A video tutorial on how to adjust various folding modes in a folding machine.

In the process of using folding machine in printing industry, its different folding methods and processes are largely determined by different typesetting situations and design schemes of books and newspapers. Therefore, in the whole folding process, the folding mode and specific operation flow of the folding machine are also different. At present, the folding methods of book binding can be roughly divided into the following three types: vertical cross folding, parallel folding and mixed folding.

1. Vertical cross folding: Vertical cross folding is mainly used to dry the pages of various books and periodicals. The folds of the front fold and the back fold are perpendicular to each other. Through this folding method, when operating, the pages must be turned into right angles clockwise, then aligned with the page number and the hem, and then folded several times in turn, thus completing the book with the required folding number and width. So vertical cross folding is also called turning.

Second, parallel folding: In the parallel folding method, the folding seams of two adjacent folds are parallel to each other. It is mainly used for double folding in advertising products and book printing. There are three main forms of parallel folding.

(1) Double fold. That is, after folding in half in the order of page numbers, the two folds are still folded forward.

(2) Fan-shaped folding (also called jumping body folding). That is, after folding a page in the order of page number, turn the page over, then fold it in half in the opposite direction of page number, and fold it repeatedly into posts in turn.

(3) core folding (also called core folding or continuous folding). That is, according to the size of the book format, the page number is folded forward continuously, and when folded in half, the folded page number is sandwiched in the middle of the book post.

The third is mixed folding: the mixed folding method is a different combination of various folding methods introduced above.

There are many kinds of folding methods, but they all depend on different formats, that is, different formats should adopt different folding methods. The layout is designed according to the binding form and machine design form of books and periodicals. For example, paperback and saddle stitch, with or without inserts, have different layouts. Folding should be based on the specific circumstances of the layout, using one of the folding methods for folding processing.
