Why Buddhism is popular but Taoism is disgusting

During this period, I have been arguing with a friend in the group about Buddhism and Taoism. I like Buddhism and don't like Taoism; he is just the opposite, he likes Taoism and hates Buddhism. And it can be seen from the argument that he hates Buddhism extremely much, even more than I dislike Taoism. When I talk about Buddhism, I get completely angry. As for me, although I have hated Tao since I was a child, and I still don’t like it now, but with the passage of time and the hardships of life, I have gradually transformed my disgust into a simple dislike, and it has not reached the level of hatred. A friend introduced Taoism to the Sanqing Dynasty, and I remembered that Jin Yong wrote Zhang Sanfeng as the founder of Taoism in his martial arts novels. My friend vomited at me, haha. Seeing that he was so obsessed with Taoism, I decided to look it up online and do some research myself. When I was a child, I watched "Liao Zhai" and "Laoshan Taoist", and I was simply envious. I have always been fascinated by Penglai Wonderland, and longed to go to Penglai Island in Shandong when I grew up to see the old gods with white beards facing each other. How beautiful it is! At that time, I was very fond of immortality. Later, when I read history books, I saw Taoist priests refining the elixir of life, and saw dojos that set up altars to pray for rain. As I got older, I learned that fortune-telling also comes from Taoism, and that Tai Chi and Bagua are used in people’s past lives and consequences. Among the names, the calculation of horoscopes comes from it. So I suddenly realized: Taoist priests are all lies - they want you to practice Taoism and become an immortal, can you do it? Can ordinary people do it? Whoever can become a god is simply delusional. Which Taoist priest could make the elixir of life? Everything is a lie, and even the common people, whom the rulers consider to be ignorant, understand that it is something that is both unattainable and unattainable. Buddhism allows people to cultivate their moral character. Although there are also superstitious things in it, at the very least, it allows people to have spiritual sustenance and promotes a kind of goodness and selflessness. Regardless of whether people understand it or not, at least they can touch it and achieve some kind of relief. Taoism cannot satisfy the people's extravagant expectations. Because of the difficulty of life and the desire for the future, ordinary people also like to do fortune telling. But the monks in the temple can also draw lots and make calculations. Then there is the theory of reincarnation, which can save a life that may have completely lost confidence in life. Is this why Buddhism can be established among the people for a long time? Taoism seems to only serve the rulers, it seems to only favor the upper class of society (this may be my misunderstanding or prejudice), it will not give you confidence in life, it will only imply whether you have the value of existence. And people often don’t know what the value of their existence is? They often think that they are too insignificant and have no value at all, not to mention how unattainable it is to practice Taoism and become an immortal. In fact, Taoism is just a sect, just like Buddhism. If Taoist priests can truly carry forward and promote the essence of Tao instead of using evil ways, they can survive well in the world. Tao is a philosophy. While Buddhist thought is completely inferior to Taoist philosophical theory, it captures the human heart and controls the direction of human beings with a kind of good thoughts. Abandoning evil and embracing good is a beautiful thing. Anyone can accept it and accept Buddhism. The truth is so simple when you think about it.

hehe!
