Cao Cao's State of Wei is in the north of China, Sun Quan's State of Wu is in the east, and Liu Bei's State of Shu is in the west. Zhuge Liang went to Shu from Jingzhou, and Guan Yu asked Zhuge Liang how to defend Jingzhou. Zhuge Liang said, "Reject Cao Cao in the north and Sun Quan in the east, and Jingzhou is carefree." In other words, Cao Cao, who is opposed to Wei and loyalty, should reconcile with Wu of Sun Quan.
