The existing buildings are the remains of the Qing Dynasty. Sit facing south and enter the courtyard layout. From south to north, a mountain gate (connected with the inverted stage) and a main hall are successively built on the central axis. There are east and west wings on both sides of the courtyard, and there is a stele gallery on both sides of the wing. There are east and west wing rooms and east and west ear halls on both sides of the main hall.
The entrance of the mountain is hooked with the roof of the inverted stage. The gate is three rooms wide and four rafters deep, hanging from the top of the mountain with a single eaves, and then resting on the mountain with a single eaves shed, holding the mansion and forming a stage. There is a brick shadow wall on both sides of the stage, and the center of the wall is made of square bricks with seal characters on it. The stage is built on a high platform foundation, with a ticket gate in the middle, a front desk and two sides open on three sides, one wide and five deep rafters, a bucket under the eaves, four beams on the bucket, and humps and melon columns on the beams. Bucket _, beam frame part is painted with color.
The main hall was built on a brick abutment, with three rooms wide and five rafters deep. It rests on the top of the mountain, with a single eaves, the roof is edged with yellow-green glazed tiles, and there is a square heart of glazed tiles in Kongquelan. Set a corridor on the front eaves. The beam frame is a front single-step beam with five beams and three columns, and the front eaves bucket _ stigma family and flat body family are all five-step and grasshopper-shaped tricks, which are made with heart; In the Ming dynasty, the flat figure had an oblique arch and was shaped like a "meter" on the plane. Melon seeds are hollowed out and carved into curly clouds, which are flat and round and engraved with petals. There are four six-wipe partition doors in each front eaves.
The bell and drum tower has two floors, one wide and one deep; The first floor is a brick cave, and the second floor is equipped with a brick wall with a quadrangular pyramid roof. The flower fence wall is beautifully carved.
The buildings in the temple are beautifully carved with brick and wood, and there are five existing stone tablets, among which "Yongkang Xiudongyue Temple Monument" in the first year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1875) describes the rebuilding process of the temple, and the information is accurate and reliable. There are 38 square meters of colored paintings at the gate and on the stage.
The courtyard layout of Dongyue Temple in Yongkang is complete and rigorous, with obvious characteristics of the times and fine construction technology. There are only a few temples preserved in Yuci District to serve Emperor Dongyue, and these temples are large in scale and complete in layout, and the buildings present the Qing-style wooden buildings of the same period, which are precious.
The entrance of Dongyue Temple in Yongkang is a combination of three architectural forms: the stage and the gate, with overlapping buildings and originality. The stage is open on three sides, which is not only conducive to the public to watch the drama, but also helps to achieve the best effect of audio-visual viewing. This layout fully embodies the creative ideas and mature architectural skills of local architects in the late Qing Dynasty, and reflects the numerous activities of welcoming gods and the prosperity of opera culture in villages and towns in the late Qing Dynasty.
