Wengjia Building

Wengjia Building is located in Miaobian Model Village, Duanfen Town, Taishan City. It consists of five luxury houses built in the early 1930s by the Weng family who lived in Hong Kong. , the three main buildings are called Liu Bei Tower, Guan Gong Tower and Zhang Fei Tower. They have different styles, showing the charming charm of Wengjialou.

The fields next to the temple are green, and the fresh smell of newly turned soil is in the air. The Wengjia Tower is looming in the lush woods, and the gurgling stream flows through the left side of the Wengjia Tower, adding to the beauty of it. A bit of peace and quiet.

As you approach the Wengjia Building, the first thing that catches your eye is the Yushu Building, which is decorated with windows of various shapes, including round, square, rectangular, hexagonal, rectangular, and rhombus, randomly distributed, not only realizing The good lighting effect and the novel design of windows to decorate the exterior of the house form a strong visual impact. Passing through the dome-topped outer courtyard door and walking along the mossy path into the living room of the building, you will immediately feel that you are surrounded by exquisite, spacious and bright spaces, with a cool air that is refreshing. Like the other two main buildings, the Yushu Building is three stories high, with the first floor being the basement, which is the living area. Here, you can see the ancient and unfamiliar "grain mills" and "stone coffins", and the strong rural atmosphere comes to your face. The difference is that the traditional design layout of the hall and bedrooms is broken, and the cloisters are used rationally, so that the rooms and halls and rooms are independent of each other. Being in it, one has to admire the advanced consciousness of the owner of the building at that time. Although the building has gone through ups and downs for decades, its strong sense of modernity has not been compromised at all.

Going to the third floor, a semi-cylindrical balcony rising out of the sky is particularly eye-catching. It is a good place to overlook the countryside in the morning and dusk. There is an ancient Chinese pavilion with red pillars and green tiles on the top of the building. It is completely silent at night. If a family of old and young gathers together in the pavilion to enjoy their family life, it is really happy and harmonious; if a person meditates, a pot of tea and a guzheng , enjoying the ancient beauty of silence under the moonlight night, the mood is also sweet. The design of the pavilion fully captures the connotation of Chinese classical culture, giving the Jade Book Building a luxurious and elegant atmosphere. Therefore, the locals call it Liu Bei Building.

The most well-preserved one at present is Wowen Building (also known as Guan Gong Building). There are woods in front of the courtyard and coconut trees as high as the building bear witness to its vicissitudes of history. The first floor is built with fine red bricks. Walking up the eight-shaped steps, the Ionic columns at the door are a typical ancient Greek architectural style. The large dome sealed on the top resembles the helmet of an ancient warrior, so the building means "Guan Gong Building". The design and decoration of the door is a beautiful sight in Wowen Building. This arched round teak door with a diameter of 3 meters is embedded with colorful imported glass and interspersed with cross patterns. It is made with fine workmanship and clever inlay. It emits gems in the morning light. Such luster makes the whole hall shine. As the colorful glass door slowly opens, it seems to take you into that historical era: dozens of skilled craftsmen are meticulously and carefully inlaying the colorful glass just purchased from the foreign company according to the design drawings drawn by foreigners. The building is also under intensive construction. The workers gathered around the eldest son of the Weng family and tried hard to interpret the architectural features designed by foreigners. As time goes by, their hard work and wisdom left us with a rich and splendid overseas Chinese culture.

The crisp sound of birds breaks the tranquility of the woods after the rain, and the barking of dogs and roosters in front of the Xiangzhong Building is another scene of rural charm. Xiangzhong Building, also known as "Zhang Fei Building", is different from the previous two floors in that a semi-cylindrical building is designed to be embedded in the main building above the entrance to the stepped platform. The third floor is built with circular windows to open up a large area. The glass decoration reflects that Wengjia Building attaches great importance to the design of the building facade, which gives the three main buildings their own distinctive appearance and also makes Wengjia Building different from the overseas Chinese and Western-style villas built in Taishan area at the same time. A Western-style column-domed lookout pavilion is set up on the top of the building. From a distance, it looks majestic and majestic, like Zhang Fei glaring at him with anger.

"On the two poles of the sunset creek bridge, half a wisp of light smoke willow shadows", the afterglow after the rain coated the Wengjia Building with a layer of gold, smoke curled up from the nearby houses, and the old man herding cattle was leading The cattle slowly return, and the melodious flute is singing the dream of Wengjialou

On November 8, 2008, the General Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government issued the "Notice on the Announcement of the Fifth Batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units" , Wengjialou was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province.
