The President of the Government of the Russian Federation is the head of the Government of the Russian Federation. The administrative power of the Russian state is shared by the Russian President and Prime Minister, but its authority is smaller than that of the President.
Extended data:
The Russian Prime Minister is nominated by the Russian President and appointed by the State Duma. If parliament rejects the nomination of the prime minister, the president must nominate someone else. If the parliament rejects three candidates in a row, the president must dissolve the parliament and re-elect. The president has the right to dismiss the prime minister. After the change of president, the prime minister must lead the cabinet to resign, and the new president will nominate the prime minister again.
When the president dies, resigns or is dismissed, the prime minister, as the first heir, serves as the interim president. In 2020, Russia amended the Constitution, stipulating that the Prime Minister and other cabinet members should be recommended by the State Duma and appointed by the President.
