There are many kinds of Chinese herbal medicines in the mountainous area of Niuzhuang Township, the most famous of which is Gastrodia elata, but the wild yield is very low. Artificial cultivation of Gastrodia elata is difficult to break through the barriers of sexual reproduction. If we conquer the sexual reproduction and cultivation technology of Gastrodia elata, we can drive the masses to plant in a large area and master the "golden key" to get rich. Luo found his childhood partner, Chen Konghuan, a retired engineer from Shaanxi Geological Exploration Bureau, to discuss planting gastrodia elata. After a long talk all night, they reached a common goal, using the retired "golden decade" to do one thing well: to find a way for the masses to get rid of poverty and become rich.

In the second year, Luo expanded the experimental field of 25 square meters to 46 square meters, and the harvested gastrodia elata was sold for more than 50 thousand yuan. The first batch of 10 poor households who planted gastrodia elata with him increased their income by 654.38 million yuan, which became a sensational news in the local area. Later, after promotion, the planting area of Gastrodia elata in Niuzhuang Township has grown from the initial 220 square meters to 65.438+0.68 million square meters, an increase of 65.438+0.8 billion yuan.
Luo once failed on the road of industrial poverty alleviation. One day at the end of August 2000, Luo's yard suddenly turned into a vegetable market. Dozens of farmers dragged unsold radishes to his house and asked him to underwrite them. It turned out that Luo found in a survey that Bai Yuchun radish is an ideal variety for off-season vegetable cultivation. So he introduced seeds and planted 1 196 mu in a group of 65438 households in Niuzhuang village. I didn't expect the market to change a lot, and the purchase price of that year was only 0.05 yuan/kg. In order not to let farmers suffer, Luo resolutely gave the villagers a subsidy of 6.5438+0.5 million yuan.
Although "if I fall, I will lose", Luo firmly believes that industry is a "hematopoietic machine" for poverty alleviation, and alpine vegetables must be engaged. The next year, he learned a lesson, organized villagers to set up professional cooperatives, signed sales contracts with large wholesale markets, and finally opened up sales. Baiyuchun radish was also planted from Niuzhuang Village to Lingyun Village, Shahe Village, Songmuping Village, Hengmaohu Village and Jiuliping Village nearby, with a planting area of more than 8,000 mu, and farmers' income increased by more than 20 million yuan.
From 65438 to 2009, Luo led the villagers to try to plant fragrant mushrooms, burley tobacco, Chinese herbal medicines, vegetables, konjac, lilies and other varieties, and also tried to raise pigs, sheep, chickens and special breeding. With his unchanging belief, he struggled to open a "door" for the people in mountainous areas to get rid of poverty and become rich, paving a road to uprooting industries.
