Ancestors settled as early as the Neolithic Age. Chibichang was established in the fourth year of Tang Jianzhong (783), and was upgraded to a county in the third year of Southern Tang Dynasty (939), and was named Ruichang, which lasted for more than a thousand years and was a county-level organizational system.
The city has a total area of 1442 square kilometers, a total population of 456,000 (20 12), and governs 2 1 township (town, field and street). Ruichang residents have 18 ethnic groups, including 398,594 Han people, accounting for 99.94% of the total population.
Ruichang is the birthplace of China bronze smelting culture, and Tongling site is the earliest copper mining and smelting site in the world, about 3300 years ago; Ruichang paper-cutting and bamboo weaving are listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list and are "the hometown of Chinese folk art"; Traditional culture and local culture are rich and colorful and complement each other.
