Historically, China was very powerful, and many of the countries surrounding our country were almost our vassals. Not only that, as one of the four ancient civilizations, it created a unique culture and influenced a large part of the world. Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, China has begun to actively open up and strengthen external ties. First, Zhang Qian of the Western Han Dynasty sent an envoy to the Western Regions, and then the Silk Road was opened. During the Tang Dynasty, not only did China send envoys to the Tang Dynasty, China also sent Xuanzang to travel westward to Tianzhu (India at the time) and wrote the "Records of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty". There is also the grand occasion of Zheng He's seven voyages to the West, and thousands of dynasties came to congratulate him. It not only strengthened diplomatic exchanges, but also enriched the people's horizons and enriched their economic and cultural life.
Ancient India gave China a name: Cathay Kingdom. Because of the good exchanges between the two sides, and the fact that ancient India was a neighbor of our country and one of the four ancient civilizations, they both had unique cultures that attracted each other. That's why ancient India named China "Chinese Kingdom". India worshiped Buddhism, and "Zhen" means the East in Buddhism. ?Dan? means the sun rises. Combined they are the country of the rising sun in the east. This name sounds very good, and both the east and the sunrise have better meanings. Moreover, Cathay means big in Indian, which means that China in ancient times was very big to India. Ancient China was indeed ahead of other countries in terms of land area, economic capacity, and military capabilities. It can be called a big character.
Historically, some countries also got their names from China. According to the "Book of the Later Han Dynasty", when Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty Liu Xiu received an envoy from Japan (then Japan), he named his monarch the King of Japan. During the period of Wu Zetian in the Tang Dynasty, the Japanese state was changed to the Japanese state. In 1936, Li Chenggui proposed two country names for the new dynasty: "Korea" and "Hening" and asked Zhu Yuanzhang to make a decision, and Zhu Yuanzhang chose "Korea". In Vietnam, there are records of "Annan Kingdom" in the Southern Song Dynasty. During the Jiaqing period, King Annan asked for "Nanyue". Jiaqing felt it was inappropriate and gave him a new gift of "Vietnam". And these three countries still use this name today.
