Jehovah Jireh

Thank you Lord!

According to the Bible's "Genesis" record, Abraham, the founder of the Israelites, was promised by Jehovah God that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars and the sand on the sea (Genesis 12:1-3, 13:14-17). When Abraham finally grew old, he had a son named Isaac from his first wife Sarah.

In order to foretell to people that He would use His own son as a sin offering to save those who believed in Him in the future, God commanded Abraham to take his beloved son Isaac to Mount Moriah and sacrifice his only son. For a burnt offering. Abraham obeyed God's instructions, took his son and the sacrificial equipment, and walked three days to the destination indicated by God.

When they arrived at their destination, Abraham asked his servants to wait while he and his son went to the place of sacrifice. Since Abraham did not bring a lamb for the sacrifice, Isaac curiously asked Abraham, and Abraham said, "My son, God himself will provide a lamb for a burnt offering." (Genesis 22:8)

When the time comes, At the place where the sacrifice was offered, Abraham built an altar and bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar. Everything was ready, and when Abraham was about to reach for the knife and sacrifice his son as a sacrifice, the angel of God called to Abraham from heaven, instructing him not to harm his son at all. Jehovah God also knew Abraham’s reverence for Him through this incident; it also lets us know how much God loves us and truly gave up His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for us.

After the angel finished speaking, Abraham raised his eyes and saw a ram caught in a dense tree by its horns. He sacrificed the ram as a burnt offering instead of his son.

Abraham named that place "Jehovah Jireh" (which means "Jehovah will provide"), and people still say to this day: "On the mountain of the LORD there will be provision." (Genesis 22:14)

May God bless you, Amen!
