To be honest, I have never been out of the province, but it does not affect my introduction to the small county in our hometown. Speaking of counties with nice names, they must be Tianshui and Jiuquan in Gansu.
1. Tianshui
There are various opinions about how Tianshui got its name, and there are quite a lot of disputes. The main ones are:
(1). It was named because of the "water injection of Tianhe" Name said.
(2). It is named after "Tianshui Temple".
(3). It is said that it is named because of the Eight Diagrams "Qian ()" and "Kan ()". /p>
(5). It is named after "Tianshui Lake (pool)"
The legend about Tianshui
In the third year of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (BC). One night in the year 114, there was sudden thunder and lightning in the sky, and there was heavy wind and rain. As a golden light shone, a red light appeared on the ground. Suddenly, the earth shook continuously, and with a loud rumbling sound, the sky collapsed and the earth cracked, forming a huge pit. It rained heavily from the sky, and the water poured down into the pit, forming a lake named "Tianshui Lake". The water level of this lake is stable, the water quality is pure, sweet and mellow. "It never dries up in spring, never overflows in summer, and is beautiful all year round." "Of course". People said that this lake was connected to the Tianhe River, and they also called it "Tianshui Well". Later, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty heard this legend, and he ordered the new county to be built next to the lake and named it "Tianshui County". From then on , got the name "Tianshui".
2. Jiuquan
It is said that Jiuquan got its name from Dongfang Shuo in the Western Han Dynasty because "there is a spring under the city" and "the water is like wine". It is written in the "Shenyi Jing": "There is jade-fed wine in the wilderness of the northwest. The wine spring is one foot wide and three feet long. The wine is as beautiful as meat and as clear as a mirror. There are jade bottles and jade bamboo slips on it. Take a bottle and it will come back to life. It will rest with the sky and have no time to dry. There is preserved meat beside the stone, which tastes like deer preserved meat. After drinking this wine, a person will not live or die, but only one will be left with the wine. The name of its preserved meat is Zhuifu, and you can eat it piece by piece. "Because of this article, Jiuquan is gradually regarded as a place where "there is a spring under the city, and its water is like wine."
The second theory is that it is related to Huo Qubing. There is also the name "Jiuquan" in folklore It is related to Huo Qubing, a young general in the Western Han Dynasty. After Huo Qubing was ordered to go out to conquer the Xiongnu, it was essential to hold a celebration banquet in the army. However, the Gansu area was a desolate desert at that time. Reduce the weight of the luggage and bring very little luxury goods such as drinks.
Huo Qubing didn’t want to spoil everyone’s interest. On the way, Huo Qubing came across a pool of spring water and had a change of heart, so he poured the drinks he had brought. The spring water is sweet and the aroma of the wine is enough for all the soldiers to drink together. This is the origin of the name "Jiuquan".
In summary, we have many names that are very special. This pleasant little county not only has a long history, but also has beautiful scenery written by literati
