Why is the name of Peacock Flying Southeast called Peacock Flying Southeast? What are the allusions?
Peacock Flying to the Southeast is selected from Yuefu Poems and Miscellaneous Songs, which first appeared in Volume 1 of Yutai New Ode edited by Xu Ling of Southern Dynasties, entitled "Ancient Poems for Jiao Zhongqing's Wife". The first sentence of the text is "Peacock flies southeast, wandering in five miles", where birds are used to cheer up. Ancient Yuefu folk songs write that couples leave, and most of them are excited by birds. Later generations may take its first sentence, entitled "Peacock flies southeast". About the works in the last years of the Eastern Han Dynasty, in the process of circulation, or after constant revision and enrichment. "There are tall buildings in the northwest" comes from Nineteen Ancient Poems written by Han Yuefu, which has nothing to do with Peacock Flying Southeast, except that there is a short story linking them together: in 1935, Lu Kanru, a young international student from Paris University and China, was defending his doctoral thesis. The examiner was very satisfied with the answer all the way. Suddenly, the examiner asked a strange question: "Why does the first sentence of the poem Peacock flies southeast?" Why not the other way? When Lu Kan had a brainwave, he answered, "Because there are tall buildings in the northwest", which is just opposite to the "southeast". The buildings in the northwest are too high for peacocks to fly, so they have to fly to the southeast. In fact, this is just a clever answer to the question, and he didn't have time to think about it carefully. The "southeast" of "Peacock flying southeast" is just a symbol because of the need of writing, and it is not really the southeast. Anyone who has studied ancient Chinese knows that many directional words in poetry are meaningless, and they can't be translated into meaning. For example, "A sword goes into the library and a horse goes to the south mountain." You can't release your horse until you reach the north mountain. Nineteen ancient poems: there are tall buildings in the northwest, which are flush with clouds. Cross-sparse junction window, Agee triple order. There is a string song on the floor, and the sound is sad! Who can write this song? Nothing is the wife of Qi Liang. The Qing Dynasty merchants followed the wind, and the middle song was wandering. Sighing repeatedly, generosity is more than sorrow. I don't care if the singer is bitter, but it hurts my bosom friend. I am willing to fly high for the double swan. There is a tall building standing in front of us in the northwest, which seems to be as high as the floating clouds. The carved wooden strips of the tall building are staggered into beautiful panes, surrounded by high eaves, and the stairs are stacked three times. The sound of string songs is floating upstairs. Who can play this music? It is the sad man who died for Qi Jun and mourned. " When this sad string is played to the "middle tune", it gradually relaxes Xu Chi. With the melody and sigh, the beautiful woman who caressed the piano and shed tears is silent with generosity and sorrow. What is more sad is the deep call for the soul mate. May we turn into a swan with soul mates, and fly together from now on to roam the infinite blue sky and white clouds!
