There is a four-corner pavilion in the southeast corner of the square, which is the "Bihe Pavilion". On both sides of the railing are written vertical lines a poem by Yang Wanli, a great poet from the Song Dynasty, "The lotus leaves touching the sky are infinitely green, and the lotus flowers reflecting the sun are uniquely red." When you climb up to the pavilion, you will see tens of thousands of acres of lotus fields with rolling blue waves and thousands of colorful lotus flowers. What you will feel is not only the pleasing green color, but also the refreshing lotus-scented breeze.
Leaving the Corridor of the Lotus Fairy and the Lotus Chanting Stele, and heading south along the corridor, let’s first take a look at the windmills and wooden houses standing on both sides. Do they have a farmhouse style? Look at this quaint log arch bridge again, it’s called Lotus Appreciation Bridge.
After crossing the bridge, the large lotus field in front of us is called "Guanhe Garden". According to statistics, there are currently a thousand lotus varieties in the world, and our "Guanhe Garden" cultivates more than 30 rare domestic and foreign varieties. You can see that the white as snow is the Sino-US Friendship Lotus, the red one is the local red scarf, and there are rose red, yellow, white water lilies, etc., all blooming in a colorful way, making people forget to leave.
The promenade is the central road of the Hehuadang Scenic Area. There is a 1,400-meter-long milky white Hehuadang Promenade built above the road. Grapes and wisteria are mainly planted, and the green branches and leaves form a green passage. People are cool and comfortable in the corridor. The promenade is like a long green dragon passing through the lotus flowers. The curved bridge pavilion on the north side is called the "Moon Watching Pavilion". It was built to commemorate Su Dongpo's visit to the Mid-Autumn Festival to admire the moon and board a boat for a night cruise. It is also a place for people to enjoy the coolness of the lotus and relieve themselves from the summer heat. Sitting on the pavilion, the breeze blows, the fragrance of the lotus bursts, the lotus leaves cling to it, and you are unknowingly integrated into the wonderful scenery of the lotus.
Continue walking along the promenade, and the long white bridge on the right will guide visitors into the embrace of lotus ponds. Climb up to the five red pavilions of different shapes arranged in front of you, lying quietly on the vast blue waves, and then listen to the magical legend of the lotus pond:
Zongshe Pavilion Gaoyou Lake was originally called Zongshe Lake According to legend, one night during the reign of Renzong in the Northern Song Dynasty, when the sky turned dark, a bright light suddenly shone in the lake. A fisherman witnessed a river clam as big as a bamboo plaque opening its giant shell, revealing a huge pearl, which was radiant and reflected. The surface of the lake looked like daylight. Huang Tingjian, a great writer of the Northern Song Dynasty, immediately wrote a poem, "Pearls are born in Zongshe Lake, and the vegetation of Huainan borrows their brilliance" to praise this incident. Nowadays, people can sometimes see such magical scenes on the lake.
Chiming Pavilion In ancient times, an old couple lived here and raised an old hen. The hen did not lay an egg for three years, but three years later it laid a very big egg. The old woman ate the first-born egg and became pregnant and gave birth to a son, named "Chicken". When the son was three years old, the old couple died one after another, and the old hen and the child depended on each other. The old hen fanned him with her wings when he was hot, and kept him warm with her feathers when he was cold. People said that this old hen was a magical chicken. After hearing about it, a local rich man wanted to snatch it for himself. The magic chicken said to the child: "Kill me and simmer me into soup. If the rich man comes to bully you, just pour the soup on the ground and you will be able to get rid of the disaster." The child still couldn't bear to kill it. Later, the rich man really came to snatch the magic chicken, and the magic chicken pecked him, but the rich man did not dare to get close to him. The magic chicken said to the child: "The rich man will not give up. Please kill me quickly." When the child refused, the chicken committed suicide by cutting its neck with the sickle.
The next day, the rich man brought another person, and the child followed the magic chicken's instructions and poured chicken soup on the rich man. The sky immediately filled with water. The water flooded wherever the rich man went. In the end, the rich man was drowned. A big mound grew up where the child lived, and from then on this place was called "Chicken Mound". And because the terrain of this place is relatively high, and the lights at night can point out the direction for ships in Gaoyou Lake, it is also called "Chicken Crow Dang". Chenzhou Pavilion There is also a story about Chenzhou being flooded. According to legend, before the Song Dynasty, there was a city called Chenzhou located in what is now Gaoyou Lake. Opposite the government office, there lived an old couple who made a living by grinding tofu and their business was very prosperous. One day, a crazy monk came to the city and said that as long as the eyes of the stone lion in front of the government office turned red, Chenzhou City would sink. The people in the city didn't take it seriously, wondering why the eyes of a lion made of stone could be red. It happened that several children heard this and thought it was funny, so they painted the stone lion's eyes red with rouge that night. The next day, the old couple got up early to grind tofu. When they looked up, they saw that the stone lion's eyes were indeed red. They were very panicked, so they packed up their things and prepared to escape. There is nothing valuable in this house, only an ancestral treasure vat that must be taken away. Unexpectedly, there was a spring under the water tank. When the water tank moved, torrential water immediately surged out. The old couple desperately climbed into the tank to save their lives. But soon the entire Chenzhou was flooded. After the floods overflowed Chenzhou and the people suffered disaster, the emperor sent Bao Zheng to deliver food for disaster relief and saved countless people. Later, the people built Chenzhou Pavilion here to commemorate Bao Zheng. The pavilion has two floors, and the top of the first floor is painted with a mural of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea. Climbing up the stairs, leaning on the railing and looking around, you will see thousands of hectares of green lotus and greenery. You will feel relaxed and happy, just like a fairyland on earth.
Phoenix Bridge It turns out that there was a big pier here. Over time, the water and surf hit it, and only a slope remained. Legend has it that a phoenix once landed here, hence the name. The ancients said: "The phoenix will not land in a land without treasure; a treasured land attracts the phoenix." The pavilion on the far right is called "Longteng Pavilion". It is said that this place was a geomantic treasure land and could produce the "true dragon emperor". This word reached the ears of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, and Long Yan was furious. Zhu Yuanzhang hurriedly sent his military advisor Liu Ji to check the area, and he saw the "dragon vein". So Liu Ji invited 72 craftsmen, which lasted 72 days, to dig 72 deep wells on the "dragon vein" and build 49 shovels, which took 49 days. A "Zhanlong River" was dug in the middle of the "Dragon Vein". On the second day after the river was formed, only blood red was seen in the "Dragon Vein", and the "Dragon Vein" was cut off. This eliminated Emperor Zhu's taboo. Although the Feng Shui was broken and there was no real Dragon Emperor, many skilled craftsmen were produced here. Minqiao is a well-known hometown of architecture. Longteng Pavilion symbolizes the prosperity and prosperity of the people of Minqiao.
A battle for love begins, with twists and turns in the plot and an unexpected ending.
