Why did China sell the first batch of J-10s to Pakistan?

The so-called major events in the world must be divided after being divided for a long time, and they must be divided for a long time. There is always a banquet in the world. However, the great friendship established between China and Pakistan can withstand various tests and endure for a long time. Compared with the growing separation between the United States and its European allies, and the antagonism between Russia and Eastern Europe, the reasons are even more intriguing.

China and Pakistan established diplomatic relations on May 21, 1951. However, the special friendly relationship between the two countries began with the Bandung Conference in 1955. At that meeting, Premier Zhou met with Pakistani Prime Minister Ali, and then visited Pakistan the following year, establishing the de facto alliance between China and Pakistan. It is impossible to verify what comprehensive considerations our country’s leaders had when they fully promoted China-Pakistan friendship. Perhaps a few years later, after the relevant information is declassified, we can get clues from it. Now we can only speculate. The reasons may be as follows:

1. New China has just been established and needs to win international recognition. Due to the discrimination and resistance of socialist regimes by Western developed countries, New China must make a breakthrough from third world countries, first win their recognition and respect, and establish diplomatic relations of equality and mutual benefit.

2. New China has just been founded, domestic banditry is incessant, and foreign reactionary forces are surrounding it. The southwest border is a big problem of instability. Although Tibet was peacefully liberated, the situation became very complicated with the escape of the +++ Lama. India even took advantage of the corruption and incompetence of the Qing Dynasty to infiltrate its troops into Tibet, such as the Ngari area. If Pakistan becomes an ally of China, it will be a great constraint for India.

The subsequent historical process has continuously consolidated the friendship between China and Pakistan. As we all know, India and Pakistan were originally British colonies. When the cunning British had to give this land independence, they had ulterior motives to divide it into Pakistan and India according to religious sects, and did not completely demarcate the boundaries. There was an "enclave" left - Bangladesh belonged to Pakistan at that time, called East Pakistan (East Pakistan). Naturally, after the British left, India and Pakistan fought several border wars (three major ones) due to territorial disputes and religious conflicts. China will support Pakistan without hesitation, regardless of its friendship with Pakistan or its unwillingness to see India gain power. In the second Indo-Pak war, Pakistan suffered heavy losses in its tank troops due to tactical mistakes and was in urgent need of replenishment. Pakistan requested assistance from China. Premier Zhou instructed to do his best to meet Pakistan's requirements. There were not enough tanks in stock, and he even directly pulled out the equipped tanks from our frontline troops to assist Pakistan. Although Pakistan withstood India's attack with the full support of China that time, with the outbreak of China's Cultural Revolution, China was overwhelmed by its own affairs, so India took the opportunity to dismember East Pakistan and established Bangladesh. However, with China's backing, Pakistan still defended the Pakistani-controlled areas of Kashmir.

After experiencing a series of wars with India, Pakistan understands that only China is the most reliable and trustworthy ally. Since the two countries are geographically adjacent and have the same topic of India, Pakistan believes that China is simply a "natural ally." That means that if China and Pakistan do not become allies, they are violating the will of God.

So why doesn’t Pakistan ally with the West? This starts with Pakistan’s international strategic position. The current world is a world of one superpower and multiple powers. The first superpower is the United States. The major powers include Russia, the European Union and China. There are also some secondary powers that have the potential to grow into princes, such as India. Due to geopolitical factors, although India is currently unable to compete with China and other major powers in terms of comprehensive strength, it still plays a very important role as a weight to contain China. Naturally, in order to cope with the rise of China, Western developed countries led by the United States and Russia are willing to maintain relatively friendly relations with India. For the same reason, in order to contain India's rise in power, major powers including China are willing to maintain relatively friendly relations with Pakistan. To sum up the international status of India and Pakistan in one vivid sentence, that is: India is important because it is a counterweight to China; Pakistan is important because it is a counterweight to India.

Comparing the two, Western countries and Russia will naturally put India in a priority position, because after all, balancing China is much more important and urgent than balancing India! For China, the situation is naturally different.

Nowadays, Pakistan’s importance to China is increasing day by day, which is mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. Pakistan is A counterweight to India. This has been stated above. Xiaohe Sailor gave two examples: After the "Arjun" developed by India died before its launch, it imported a large number of T90 series tanks from Russia, so Pakistan accordingly obtained China's MBT2000 (85/90 series improved export version). The Palestinians call him "Khalid". China also handed over the production line of this type of tank, so Pakistan can even re-export the "Khalid" that has undergone some localization improvements to other countries; India obtained SU30MKI and MiG-29 from Russia, but in March this year, Pakistan has obtained the first batch of two JF17 "Lightning" (Fierce Dragon). According to the scheduled plan, Pakistan will obtain the JF17 production line. If necessary, Pakistan will also receive the J10A.

Please pay attention to these two typical examples. Russia has reservations about cooperating with India out of its own considerations (of course it has more reservations when cooperating with China). Russia only needs India to pay for "cooperation" When developing new weapons, the core technology is not available to India. Therefore, although India paid a large price, it only received the weapons but not the core technology. On the contrary, due to China's special alliance with Pakistan, China is willing to transfer some core technologies to Pakistan, even if this technology is certainly not the most advanced technology China possesses. As a result, India's cost of acquiring advanced weapons is undoubtedly much higher than that of Pakistan. Therefore, we can understand why India became furious after learning that Pakistan had obtained the first batch of two JF17s as scheduled, and cursed Russia for not keeping its promises and China for being too cunning.

2. Pakistan is not only the land channel for China to enter the Middle East, but also the forward base for the Chinese navy to enter the Indian Ocean (especially the Persian Gulf). Oil is a strategic material, and its importance goes without saying. With the rapid development of China's economy, energy consumption is increasing. As early as 1993, China has changed from an oil exporter to an oil importer. As of 2006, China imported 136 million tons of oil annually. The foreign oil dependence rate will be in It reached 50% in 2010. Therefore, the Middle East is of important strategic significance to China! At present, the Chinese navy is still unable to patrol the oceans and safeguard China's overseas interests and oil lifeline. It is very important and necessary to have a safe land energy corridor. When Pakistani President Musharraf visited China, he revealed in an interview with CCTV that Pakistan is willing and working hard to promote the early completion of this land energy channel connecting the Middle East and China. The completion of Gwadar Port has given the Chinese Navy an advanced base in the Persian Gulf. The Chinese Navy can often conduct "joint naval exercises" with Pakistan, as happened recently.

3. Pakistan is a roundabout channel for China to enter Iran and Central Asia. This point is often overlooked, but looking at the current situation in Central Asia and Iran, the significance is very obvious. With this channel, China can not only easily attack the separatist forces and KB elements led by the "East Turkistan", but also support Central Asia and Iran when necessary, thereby stabilizing China's western situation. Once China loses some of its "friends" in the west, the U.S.'s power will directly extend to the borders of Xinjiang and Tibet, which will pose a self-evident threat to China and will greatly affect China's energy.

4. Pakistan is naturally close to China’s western provinces and has complementary economic structures. Vigorously developing trade with Pakistan can effectively accelerate the economic development of western China. By using Pakistan as a transit point, we can also vigorously develop trade with countries in the Middle East and Central Asia. Economics and historical experience tell us that economic assistance alone cannot change the backwardness of a region. Backward regions must be equipped with their own hematopoietic skills, and then their economic situation can be fundamentally improved and sustainable development can be achieved. The level of economic development between the east and west of China is extremely unbalanced and the gap is huge. Policies must be favored to support the development of border trade in the western region. Only by establishing a virtuous cycle can the west develop rapidly and narrow the gap with the east. The sustainable development of the economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standards are the foundation of social stability.

5. With the rise of China and its rising position in the international economic chain, China’s reasons for being a third world country are becoming increasingly insufficient. . Pakistan can help China speak in third world circles. China should and must rely on its brothers and friends in the third world.

Let us drink to the great friendship between China and Pakistan! Although we are currently richer than Pakistan, we should still thank Pakistan for its international support for China! Pakistani brothers are very friendly and respectful to China. We should also behave like a big country and respect and treat our Pakistani friends well. We don’t want to see our Pakistani counterparts not equipped with laptops during joint exercises and then post a video saying how they envy us. What a superficial mentality this is! There are two interpretations of pride. One is a positive meaning, which means pride; the other is a derogatory meaning, which means arrogance. When Westerners look at us condescendingly, do we feel depressed or even angry? In this case, why should we follow the example of Westerners in treating our friend Pakistan? This problem also exists when dealing with India. Is there nothing India is better than us and worth learning from? When it comes to India, it is either ridicule or attack. Some people even deliberately distort or falsify the remarks of Indians and use this as an excuse to continue to ridicule and attack Indians. Of course, it's okay if we occasionally chat and joke, but if this attitude becomes our consistent style, then there will be a big problem. You must know that arrogant soldiers will be defeated! Such painful lessons abound in history.
