What was the name of Xingtai in ancient times?

Xingtai City, referred to as "Xing", was known as Xingzhou and Shunde Prefecture in ancient times.

Xingzhou, the old name of present-day Xingtai City in the Sui, Tang, Song and Jin Dynasties, was called Shunde Prefecture in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the 16th year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (596), it was established as "Xing" in the Shang and Zhou dynasties. More than a hundred years later, it moved to Nangeng and became the Northern Ping Fan.

The Western Zhou Dynasty granted the fourth son of Duke Zhou to the Xing Kingdom. The territory was east of the Taihang Mountains, so it was west of the Yellow River, south of the Hutuo River, and north of the Zhang River. Shunde Prefecture was abolished in the second year of the Republic of China (1913). In 1925, Shunde City was established in Chengxiang (east of the bridge) of Qie Prefecture. In 1928, the abandoned city belonged to Xingtai County. In 1983, Xingtai, a prefecture-level city in Hebei Province, was established.

The long history of Xingtai has seen the emergence of sages such as Guo Shoujing, Li Mu, Wei Zheng, Song Jing, and Liu Bingzhong, as well as emperors such as Guo Wei, Chai Rong, Meng Zhixiang, and Meng Chang. The first emperor of the ages, Qin Shihuang, died in the sand dunes of Xingtai during his eastern tour.

Xingtai is also the ancestral home of the royal family of the Tang Dynasty (Tang Ancestral Mausoleum). Events such as Yao and Shun's abdication, Hufu riding and shooting, the Battle of Julu, and the Yellow Turban Uprising occurred that affected the course of Chinese history. Location: Xingtai City is located in the south-central part of Hebei Province, at the eastern foot of the southern section of the Taihang Mountains, in the middle of the North China Plain, and among the three provinces of Shanxi, Hebei and Shandong. It is between 36°50′~37°47′ north latitude and 113°52′~115°49′ east longitude.

It faces Shandong Province in the east by the Grand Canal, is adjacent to Shanxi Province in the west by Taihang Mountain, is connected to Shijiazhuang City and Hengshui City in the north and northeast, and is connected to Handan City in the south.
