Architectural evolution of Hongfa Temple

July 1985, Hongfa Temple broke ground. Hongfa Temple is different from any temple in China. It is completely a newly-built temple, and it is also the first temple built in China after the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949. At that time, at the invitation of the relevant departments in Shenzhen, monk Ben Huan led his disciples to pray for the groundbreaking ceremony. After the completion of Daxiong Hall, Tibetan Scripture Building and Tianwang Hall, the construction was stopped for some reason. With the care and promotion of Zhao Puchu, the Hongfa Temple was successfully completed.

1986, Master Ben Huan wrote to Zhao Puchu, President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, asking him to write on his behalf. Lao Zhao suggested calling it "Fukenji", but considering that believers in Guangdong and Hong Kong don't worship Pu Xian very much, Master Zhengguo said that in order to promote Buddhism, it would be better to call it "Hongfa Temple". Zhao Lao agreed, and personally wrote "Hongfa Temple" and gave it to Ben Huan. The plaque of Hongfa Temple was made by 1986.
