In the late Ming Dynasty (later the Jin Dynasty), that is, after Nurhachi began to unify the Jurchen tribes in the Northeast in 1583, records of Xibo surnames began to appear one after another. The Xibo people stationed in Jianzhou, Haixi, and Donghai first surrendered to Nurhaci, and their names began to appear in history books.

Their main activity areas have also appeared one after another, such as the Xibo River (ie Xibowoji), a tributary of the Hunchun River, Suifen River, Namtulu, Yalan, Xilin, Nyimacha, Huye and other places. There are surnames that are not found in the Xibe people of the East China Sea, but are found in the Horqin Xibe people: Wu Ya, Zhasi Huli, Ilari, Guoerjia, Guoerji, There are 10 people including Yanjili (Yang Jili), Heyeleshi, Niutushi (Ningwutu), Mohuli (ie Motuli), and Harihuli.

From the above information, it can be seen that in the early Qing Dynasty, the Xibe people had a total of 33 surnames. After more than 400 years, today the Xibe people have 148 surnames. Among them, there are 102 surnames in Xinjiang and none among the Xibe people in Xinjiang. There are 17 surnames among the Xibe people in Northeast China. There are 29 single-character surnames among the Xibe people across the country.
