What is breaking ice in outward bound training? What role does it play?

Icebreaking is a technical term, which refers to a professional skill in training, especially outdoor development. It can be said that successfully breaking the ice is the key to whether the whole training can achieve the expected effect. The same name is also the name of movies and books.

This term originated from iceberg theory. Iceberg theory means that people are like an iceberg, the part of consciousness only accounts for a small part, and the larger part is the potential consciousness, or the consciousness that is not easy to distinguish. Breaking the ice is to attract people's attention to the present, because attention cannot or is not easily influenced by the potential consciousness now, so as to achieve team integration and leave doubt, suspicion and alienation.
