Why is azalea called azalea?

It is said that in ancient Shu there was an emperor named Du Yu, who was extremely affectionate with his queen. Later, he was killed by an adulterer and died miserably. His soul turned into a cuckoo bird, which sang and howled every day in the Queen's garden. The tears it shed were drops of red blood, which dyed the beautiful flowers in the Queen's Garden red, so later generations named it azalea.

The queen heard the cry of the cuckoo and saw the bright red blood, and understood that it was the spirit of her husband. Under the grief, he wailed "The son is back, the son is back" day and night, and finally passed away in depression. Her soul turned into flaming red azaleas that bloomed all over the mountains and accompanied the cuckoo bird, so this azalea is also called azalea. This is the allusion of the cuckoo crying for blood and the son returning mourning. The lifelong love between the bird and the flower is an immortal legend in the world.
