At the foot of Pangu Mountain at the junction of Biyang County and Tongbai County, there is a mountain village called Shimbun Village. There is indeed a large coffin-like stone trough on the hillside to the north of the village. This is probably where the village got its name! But how were the stone tombs formed?
Very early on, one day a man came from the north and called himself Shishan. Due to the disaster in his hometown, his family was poor and his parents died, so he came here alone to make a living. The mountainous area was sparsely populated, and the poor sympathized with the poor, so the people at the foot of Pangu Mountain left him behind. After living there for a long time, people knew about his life experience. His family lives in Taihang Mountain. His father's name is Shi Zheng, and he is a stonemason. He was an honest man, kind-hearted, and worked hard all his life. He was still very poor and passed away very early. Only mother and son live together. Unexpected events occurred, and soon his mother also became seriously ill. He had no money for treatment, so he borrowed money here and there, but it was not enough.
I had no choice but to find a "donkey rolling" usury, borrow some money from the rich man, and return home. But my mother has passed away. Shishan cried until he died. After burying his mother, all the money had been spent. At this time, he was heavily in debt and could no longer repay it. In desperation, he fled late at night and drifted in all directions, finally settling at the foot of Pangu Mountain in Biyang County.
Shishan was a very capable man. He saw that there were many big rocks in Pangu Mountain, and people were in great need of stone grinding, stone rolling, and stone grinding. He was a stonemason himself, so he used his skills to repay the kindness of the villagers. You will eat from whomever you work for, without any wages. Therefore, everyone likes him very much. Later, everyone helped him reclaim a few pieces of wasteland, built two thatched houses on the hillside, and settled here. One day, a little boy begging for food came from other places. This boy also had his parents dead and was wandering around. Shishan adopted the child as his adopted son out of his shared feelings for the same disease and his kind-heartedness. The father and son depended on each other, worked hard and lived frugally, and lived a pretty good life.
Time passed quickly, and before they knew it, the children had grown to twenty-three years old. They built several new houses with their own hard work. Although their lives were not so rich, they lived happily. Later, they got married and married with children. From then on, Shishan became more dependent on life. In order to do more work, he pushed the household chores to his daughter-in-law, and he and his son built a road up to Pangu Mountain. In this way, it was easier for the people in the four townships to go up the mountain and they had more interactions. Several families moved here one after another, and it gradually became a small village.
Shishan worked hard all his life. Before he died, he asked his son to chisel a tomb with stones and bury himself on the hillside, so that he could always look after his farmland for the villagers. The filial son worked tirelessly day and night and finally built a large stone tomb. After Shishan died, his son buried him there. To this day, there are still prints of the son's knees next to the stone tomb, which is a testimony of the son's mourning for his father. In order to commemorate the old man Shishan, the people named the small village where he lived "Stone Tomb Village".
