Twelve o'clock

The twelve hours are named after the twelve earthly branches, namely: Zi hour, Chou hour, Yin hour, Mao hour, Chen hour, Si hour, Wu hour, Wei hour, Shen hour, You hour, Xu hour and Hai hour.

Each hour is equivalent to two modern hours. The ancients named each hour according to the time when the animals in the Chinese zodiac appeared.
