Medusa's Raft is incomparable from the composition, light and color of the picture to the dynamic expression and rich imagination of the characters. With a pyramid-shaped composition, the painter unfolded the events on the raft when the only survivor found the shadow of the ship on the horizon, and described the hunger, thirst, pain and groan of the victim. The picture was full of suffocating tragic atmosphere, which created a precedent for romanticism.
