Origin:
During the Northern Song Dynasty, Chuanxia Road in what is now the Sichuan Basin was divided into Yizhou Road, Zizhou Road, Lizhou Road and Kuizhou Road, collectively known as It is called "Sichuan Gorge Fourth Road" or "Sichuan Road". During this period, official positions such as Sichuan Zhizhi Envoy and Sichuan Xuanfu Envoy were established, which were later shortened to "Sichuan", from which Sichuan got its name.
From the Yuan Dynasty to the 23rd year of the Yuan Dynasty, Chuanxia 4th Road was merged and the "Sichuan and Other Places Xing Zhongshu Province" was established, which was referred to as "Sichuan Province". The name "Sichuan Province" came out from then on.
In 1997, Chongqing City, formerly a city under separate state planning in Sichuan Province, and prefecture-level cities Fuling City, Wanxian City, and Qianjiang Region were separated from Sichuan Province to form the Chongqing Municipality. At this point, Sichuan and Chongqing were divided into administrative regions, forming today's administrative region of Sichuan Province.
