The origin of the place name Songyuan

In the ninth year of Baoda in the Southern Tang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties (951), Shengsongyuan Town was established and belonged to Jianzhou. The administrative seat is the old northeastern county of Songxi County, Fujian Province. In the eighth year of Kaibao's reign (975) in the Northern Song Dynasty, the county was renamed Songxi County and moved to this county.

On November 19, 1987, the State Council approved the cancellation of Fuyu County and the establishment of Fuyu City (county level).

On June 6, 1992, the State Council approved the abolition of Fuyu City, the establishment of Songyuan City (prefecture level), and the establishment of Songyuan City Fuyu District.

On July 20, 1995, the State Council approved the establishment of Fuyu County, which governs part of the administrative area of ??Fuyu District, and the county people's government is located in Sanchahe Town. Fuyu District of Songyuan City was renamed Ningjiang District of Songyuan City.

Songyuan City belongs to the mid-temperate continental monsoon climate zone. The spring is dry and rainless, and the temperature rises quickly; the summer is hot and the precipitation is concentrated; the autumn is cool, the temperature changes rapidly, the temperature difference is large, and the weather is fine; the winter is long, the snowfall is small, and it is cold and dry.

The Songhua River starts at the confluence of the Songhua River and the Nen River and flows eastward along the northern border of the city into the Heilongjiang River. The internal flow is 120 kilometers long and flows through 8 towns in Fuyu City, with an inter-regional drainage area of ??2,229 square kilometers. The highest water level is 127.37 meters and the lowest water level is 119.59 meters.

Songyuan’s mineral resources include oil, sand, quartz sand, glass sand, refractory soil, nitrate, etc. It is rich in above-ground and underground resources, and there are rich underground mineral resources, mainly petroleum.

The total oil reserves reach 2.6 billion tons, with proven reserves of 1.08 billion tons, natural gas reserves of 18.5 billion cubic meters, and kerogen shale reserves of 8 billion tons. Jilin Oilfield, the sixth largest oil field in China, is located in Matsubara.
