The origin of the word Kongming comes from the historical records of Sima Qian. There is a saying in historical records that Confucius taught the king the way to rule and served more than seventy kings. This sentence was used to describe Confucius, and Zhuge Liang's father hoped that when he grew up, he could be a sage like Confucius.
Zhuge Liang's nickname is Kongming. Ancient people often called each other by his nickname instead of his name. However, Zhuge Liang did not choose the name Kongming for himself. Zhuge Liang's father also chose the name for him.
As his father hoped, Zhuge Liang became a talented man who was highly respected by future generations. Zhuge Liang was from Yangdu, Langya, Xuzhou. Zhuge Liang first followed his uncle to work hard in Jingzhou. Later, after his uncle's death, Zhuge Liang was greatly hit and lived a secluded life. It was not until Liu Bei visited the thatched cottage three times that Zhuge Liang returned to politics again.

Zhuge Liang's name was extracted from their horoscopes by his father, Zhuge Gui, and was chosen by God. A name derived from the word.
Liang’s surname was Zhuge and his courtesy name was Kongming. His father Zhuge Gui was delighted to have a second son, whom he named Zhuge Liang. Liang's father, Zhuge Gui, inherited his ancestor Zhuge Feng's teachings on the Book of Changes. From the eight characters of Liang's birth date, Xinyou, Bingshen, Guichou, and Yimao, he concluded that his god was fire, so he named him Liang and Kongming. The names of Liang's elder brother Zhuge Jin and younger brother Zhuge Jun were also named by their father Zhuge Gui, who extracted the characters from their horoscopes and chose the characters "神地".
