Extended information:

In Wu Chengen's 100-chapter version, although the ending of "Havoc in Heaven" is tragic, the heroic image of the rebel is created with infinite vitality. In contrast, the rulers of the Heavenly Palace are stern and cruel, which is ridiculous and abominable.

They used all kinds of conspiracies and tricks against Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong was suppressed at the foot of Five Elements Mountain. Readers did not feel that he "deserved it" at all. On the contrary, they sympathized with him and lamented it. The author's rebellious thoughts in this story were the progressive thoughts of the time.

It makes these seven chapters an essential part of "Journey to the West" and adds a lot of brilliance to the whole book. After the seventh chapter, it is written that the Tathagata preaches the Dharma, Guanyin obeys the decree, Tang Monk is born, Wei Zheng slays the dragon, and Taizong enters the underworld. These are all preludes to the story of seeking scriptures. They mainly serve to organize the plot and have no profound ideological significance.
