According to legend, an old man who was digging "bangchui" heard a sound from the mountain near the stone seam on the southern slope of Mao'er Mountain. He looked into the crack in the stone and saw a golden pony pulling a stone mill, and the grinding stones were all golden beans. But the crack in the stone was too narrow, and he couldn't get in, so he was so anxious that he couldn't get in. The next day, he invited several relatives and friends to go up the mountain to have a look. Unexpectedly, the stone sutures were closed, and they had to return disappointed.
This incident reached the ears of a treasure hunter from the south. He had a pair of wise eyes and could see three feet down. He came to the mountain and looked through the rocks. Sure enough, it was true, but how could he open the cracks in the rocks? He searched around the mountain all day long, but found nothing. But he was not discouraged. One day, he walked into the courtyard of an old man who grew vegetables at the foot of the mountain. He saw a big cucumber plant with green branches and green leaves. It grew very lushly and two big cucumbers were hung on the shelf.
He was so happy that he paid a lot of money to buy it from the old man, saying that he would not be able to pick melons until he came back. When frost came, the old man was afraid that the melons would be frozen, so he picked them and kept them. Soon the treasure hunter came back and complained. It turns out that those two big melons are the key to opening the crack in the stone. But he still didn't give up, so he took the two big melons to the cracks in the rocks on the mountain. He picked up one first, aimed at the cracks in the rocks and knocked three times. The melons were smashed, but the mountain did not open.
He picked up another one and knocked it against the crack in the stone. On the second hit, the crack in the stone moved and closed again, and the melon was broken again. At this moment, there was a loud rumble, and water gushes out from the north side of the mountain, and the flow continues. As soon as the man saw something bad, he ran away without a trace.
Later, several Taoists heard that Mao'er Mountain was a sacred mountain at the corner of Zhendonghai. They were afraid of big trouble, so they built a temple at the corner of the mountain called "Taihe Palace". Burning incense and chanting sutras every day, all four seasons, the water flowed continuously and merged into the Ash River, and this place became the famous Laodaogou.
