I am now in Urumqi and will go back in a few days. I want to bring some specialties to my colleagues and friends. What should I bring?

O(∩_∩)O Haha~, I have encountered this problem before when I returned to the mainland. I don’t know what to bring.

In some large supermarkets in Beijing, such as Carrefour, Wal-Mart, and Auchan, there are dried fruits, candied fruits, etc., but they are basically raw materials imported from Xinjiang in the mainland and then processed. Generally, there are relatively few dried fruits in Xinjiang real estate. The Xinjiang Office in Beijing can buy some, but the price has increased several times. It is recommended to buy some things from Xinjiang and take them back.

As for dried fruits, it is recommended to buy bagged dried fruits, such as raisins, almonds, apricot kernels, dried apricots, pine nuts, walnuts, licorice apricots, wolfberries... On the one hand, it is more convenient to give them to friends in larger packaging. On the other hand, if you are not a connoisseur of bulk dried fruits, you will probably be slaughtered.

In addition to dried fruits, there are also some snacks. For example, dragon beard cakes, traditional pastries of the Uighur people, etc. There are also imported Turkish and Pakistani foods in the supermarket, which are not available in supermarkets in Beijing.

As for handicrafts, it depends on LZ’s usual Taobao skills. Remember to bargain, and it is best to find a local friend to go with you, so the success rate is high. It should be noted that when asking for prices with ethnic comrades, you should be optimistic before bargaining, otherwise conflicts will easily arise.

All the things mentioned above can be obtained at the Grand Bazaar in Erdaoqiao, Urumqi. There is a Carrefour supermarket in the Grand Bazaar where you can buy dried fruits and snacks, and you can buy some handicrafts in the market outside.

Bus route: Take No. 1, 101, 102, 103, 104, 106, 61, 63 indoors and get off at Erdaoqiao, opposite the road. Take bus 10, 16, 311 or 912 and get off at Erdaoqiao and walk 200 meters east.

Tip: It is best to buy per person, choose small packages and various types, so it is more generous to give to friends.

Finally, I wish you a happy stay in Xinjiang!
