The problem of naming classical music

Most of those untitled works are from the classical period. Serenades, marches, minuets, etc. are all a kind of musical form, each with a fixed format. It is not that the musicians have chosen similar titles. The titles are all from the classical period and later, and the titles of some classical period pieces were added by later generations.

The Turkish marches of Mozart and Beethoven are all Turkish-style marches, and Mozart is marked "Turkish style" on the score.

Chopin wrote 19 nocturnes, not serenades. The two are different: serenades are songs sung to lovers at night, while nocturnes are generally piano music, including a variety of thoughts.

Minuet in G major contains two pieces of information: the mode of the music is G major, and the form is minuet. If other music meets this condition, it is also called minuet in G major.
