Diaoyu Island Li Yu consists of Diaoyu Island, Huangweiyu Island, chiwei yu Island, South Island and North Island, with a total area of about 6. 5 square kilometers, located about 92 nautical miles northeast of Keelung City, Taiwan Province Province, China. China's sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands is universally acknowledged and indisputable, no matter from the discovery of possession, the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation, or the Convention on the Continental Shelf and the Convention on the Law of the Sea, which came into effect in the 1960s. However, in recent years, the Japanese have repeatedly set foot on the island, ignoring China's sovereignty. The reason is that Japan is not only actively striving to become a political power, but more importantly, it has seen the military strategic significance of Diaoyu Island itself. The following is an analysis from military geology related aspects.
First, the waters around Diaoyu Island are rich in oil resources. As we all know, with the acceleration of economic development in various countries, the demand for energy is increasing day by day, and oil occupies a major position in the modern energy structure, so oil resources have become a "hot potato". It can be said that whoever occupies a large amount of oil resources will have the priority of development. According to 1967 UN survey, there are 80 billion barrels of submarine oil and gas in the Diaoyu Islands. It has been concluded that the oil resources in the waters near Diaoyu Island make it "possible to become the second Middle East". Japan is an island country lacking in resources. Faced with this temptation, we have to take risks. In addition, in the 1990s, with the signing of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the establishment of the 200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zone system, Japan's awareness of ocean expansion increased day by day. Japan's strategy to achieve expansion is to occupy the islands in order to obtain the marine areas owned by the islands. According to the theory of geological mineralization, the eastern continental shelf of China is likely to be rich in oil and gas resources, especially after a large number of submarine geological exploration and the discovery of oil and gas fields in Xiao Chun, this assertion has been strongly confirmed. According to the relevant provisions of the Convention on the Continental Shelf, which came into effect in 1964, and the Convention on the Law of the Sea, which was adopted in 1982, Diaoyu Island and other islands belong to the same geological structure as Taiwan Province Province of China. Diaoyu Island is on the natural extension line of continental shelf with Taiwan Province Province, Penghu and Zhoushan Islands in China, and is separated from Ryukyu Islands under Japanese jurisdiction by a trench 2000 meters deep. According to the internationally recognized Convention on the Continental Shelf: "Islands on the same continental shelf belong to the state", China enjoys sovereignty over all continental shelves in the East China Sea, and naturally enjoys territorial sovereignty over islands located on the continental shelf such as Diaoyu Island. Japan regards the continental shelf as a treasure house of mineral resources and should strive for the control of the continental shelf. In other words, as long as Japan owns Diaoyu Island, it can "share" the oil and gas resources in the East China Sea with China, which is undoubtedly another plunder of China resources.
Second, the regional strategy of Diaoyu Island is very important. From the perspective of military geology, Diaoyu Island has little-known military value. Diaoyu Island is located in the ocean direction of Chinese mainland territory, forming a natural barrier on the outer edge of the mainland. In the middle of this island chain, in front of the East China Sea are Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan Province Island. Together with Kyushu Island, they separate the East China Sea of China from the Pacific Ocean. Ryukyu Kingdom has a history of 2,000 years, and has a suzerain-vassal relationship with China for 500 years. The latter is a special form of state widely existing in the history of relations between China and neighboring countries. 65438+Before 1980s in 2009, Ryukyu Kingdom had been paying tribute to the central government of China. However, in 1879, Japan, which has been trying to realize the policy of expanding southward at sea, realized its long-coveted ambition of annexing Ryukyu. With the fall of Ryukyu, the safety of Taiwan Province, Pengzhou and other islands is at stake, which is completely exposed to the forefront of Japan's southward expansion. Finally, after the Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan Province and Peng became Japanese colonies. Although Japan returned Taiwan Province Province to China after World War II, it could not break through the restrictions brought by war crimes. But today, some Japanese right-wing forces are still shouting "the ownership of Taiwan Province Province has not been decided". If Japanese militaristic forces are fully revived and Japan becomes a world military power again, Taiwan Province Province and eastern Chinese mainland will be the first to be threatened. In this way, the small Diaoyu Island, located 90 nautical miles northeast of Taiwan Province Province, between the Ryukyu Islands and Chinese mainland and Taiwan Province provinces, will surely attract people's attention to its potential military value. In fact, the military value of the Diaoyu Islands will become increasingly prominent in the future. In a strategic sense, these islands can be used by Japan as a bridge or a frontier base for Japan to invade Taiwan Province Province again; It can also be my outpost in the East China Sea to defend national security and curb Japan's southward expansion. For Japan, as an island country, the terrain is narrow and the defense depth is very shallow, and the inland distance from the coast is no more than 120 km. When the war broke out, it was extremely vulnerable to sea and air attacks from all directions, so Japan basically belonged to a country with no depth to defend. In the late World War II, Japan had already suffered from this kind of land and terrain, and the Allies used it to deal a heavy blow to Japan. Therefore, on the one hand, Japan is eager to expand its military defense scope and make its military forces go out of the four islands to establish the frontier to ensure its maritime security; On the other hand, Japan's occupation and control of the Diaoyu Islands can push its so-called defense range from Okinawa to the west by more than 300 kilometers. This is in line with the political intention of some people in Japan to pursue the policy of maritime expansion. In this way, the Japanese army can carry out reconnaissance and surveillance on the military defense in China's coastal areas and Taiwan Province Province, thus putting our defense activities in a passive position. At the same time, as the famous Japanese military critic Ogari Jinghong pointed out, it is appropriate for Diaoyu Island to establish an electronic early warning device or deploy missiles. This means that the Japanese can set up military bases outside the mainland here, which is undoubtedly an outcome to China that poses a great threat to China's national security. It can be said that the Japanese side realized the above-mentioned military value, so as early as the 1970s, the Diaoyu Islands and its adjacent waters were included in its warning scope and the Diaoyu Islands were included in Japan's military control circle. As far as China is concerned, Diaoyu Island is located at the farthest northeast of Taiwan Province Province, facing Ryukyu Islands. Geographically, it is located between Chinese mainland and Okinawa, 200 nautical miles from east to west. Its forward position is of great significance not only to the military defense of Taiwan Province Island, but also to the security of the southeast coast of China. From the perspective of national defense, the island is the frontier of the mainland and plays an important barrier role in the war.
2 From the perspective of military geology to see the strategic position of Diaoyu Island [repost]
The Ryukyu Islands are generally only 300-500 nautical miles from the east coast of China. After World War II, the United States has built it into the central link of the US military's "island chain" in the western Pacific. The US Navy has been stationed at the Okinawa Midtown Bay Base, including the First Amphibious Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, which has five detachments under its jurisdiction. The United States has been paying attention to this place as a bridgehead for attacking the Far East in wartime, which has posed a great threat to the security of the eastern coastal areas of China. If the Diaoyu Islands are permanently occupied by Japan, the rapidly developing Japanese military forces under the US-Japan security system can expand westward accordingly. In the foreseeable future, it is hard to say that it will not pose a potential or real threat to China's security. From the long-term development of national interests, the mainland and Taiwan Province Province will be unified. After the return of Taiwan Province Province to the motherland, the role of Taiwan Province Strait in China's national defense construction will be greatly improved. It is possible for our army to take advantage of the superior geographical position of Taiwan Province Island and Taiwan Province Strait to strengthen its national defense strength, and even use it as support for China's coastal operations. On the contrary, if Japan relies on Diaoyu Island, which is only 120 nautical miles away from Taiwan Province Island, it will seriously weaken the military function of the Strait and greatly damage the security of the southeast coast of China. As far as military strategic value is concerned, if Japan occupies Diaoyu Island, the Japanese army can deploy its sea and air surveillance and reconnaissance equipment and missiles on the island, which will easily block the important ports and air passages in Taiwan Province Province and Chinese mainland. If Japan sets up a radar on the Diaoyu Islands, it can monitor the sea area and airspace of Fiona Fang from 500 km to 600 km, covering most parts of Taiwan Province Province and large areas along the mainland, such as Xiamen, Fuzhou, Wenzhou, Ningbo and Shanghai, and every move of our army will be grasped by Japan in time. At the same time, the occupation of Diaoyu Island can extend the Japanese sphere of influence to the southwest, and it can monitor the main navigation channels in the waters near the Taiwan Province Strait. In this way, Diaoyu Island has become the southernmost stronghold of the Middle East oil and energy supply line on which Japan depends. If Japan establishes a military base or deploys heavy weapons here, it will be tantamount to planting a time bomb at the door of our country! At the same time, it also locked China's access to the Pacific Ocean, which is equivalent to choking us! Therefore, Diaoyu Island is also called the first island chain in China. From the above analysis, we can draw a conclusion that the strategic value of Diaoyu Island is significant, not only because of its sovereignty symbol, but also because of its potential economic and military value.
Diaoyu Island is a small point that is difficult to mark on the map. However, Japan's insistence on salivating over this small island belonging to China and staying away from its own island is nothing more than taking a fancy to its vast sea area, marine resources such as seabed oil and minerals, traffic and transportation rights in territorial waters and airspace and its potential strategic significance in the future. Therefore, for the survival and development of future generations, as well as for safeguarding China's sovereignty and ensuring the long-term development in the future, we must defend the Diaoyu Islands to the death.
