In the past, there was no Peking Opera in Beijing. After the four major groups of Huizhou Opera entered Beijing, they absorbed the advantages of Kunqu Opera, Pingju Opera and other operas and formed new operas. Before liberation, Beijing was called Beiping, so the new play was called Pingju at that time. After liberation, Beiping was renamed Beijing, and Pingju was renamed Peking Opera.
Huangmei Opera is named after a place name. Because it originated in Huangmei County, Hubei Province. It started as a folk tune. After liberation, with the support of the party and the people's government, a form of drama was gradually formed, and Huangmei was named as a new drama.
