First, due to light pollution, we usually can't see dim stars, which may make the overall image of the constellation more suitable for their names. The constellation Ursa major is a typical example. The seven bright stars of the Big Dipper are not like a bear, but if the surrounding dark stars are included, the similarity is not low. Note that people who point out these simple images live in a dark sky all their lives.
