Li Shutong once said: "I have many mothers, and my biological mother is very bitter." In a short sentence, how much sadness and helplessness have been exhausted.
Memories of the past, joys and regrets.
1905 In February, Li Shutong's mother died in Shanghai at the age of 46.
Li Shutong's father used to be a giant businessman in Tianjin, and he had several concubines and lived a rich life since childhood. However, when I was young, it was around the Revolution of 1911 that the situation was turbulent, which affected the business of the Li family. After Li Shutong's father died, the situation at home got worse every year.
However, in that year, Li Shutong had mixed feelings, and it never rains but it pours. His newborn son died suddenly, and Li Shutong was immersed in the pain of losing his son. Then his mother was so sad because of the death of her eldest grandson that she died unfortunately.
At this time, Li Shutong's mother followed him to Shanghai. Perhaps in the heart of Li Shutong's mother Wang Fengling, life in Shanghai is comfortable, but it is not a home after all. No matter how heavy the shackles of the high-walled compound are, it is also a fallen leaf. She wants to go home and return to her roots.
These elders are his so-called relatives, so heartless! This is a great disappointment of Li Shutong's life!
Li Shutong thought of her mother's miserable life. When she married her father, she was a yellow flower girl of 17 years old. A few years later, Li Shutong's father died. In this big feudal family, her mother was just a concubine and had no position in the Li family. She looks at others with her eyes in every word and deed, and she has been discriminated against all her life. After a humble life, the old system robbed his mother of her happiness and imprisoned a girl's life. The only wish to die is to go home, but it can't come true. These so-called relatives and respected people are so inhuman. Li Shutong's pent-up anger broke out completely at this moment.
No matter how angry the elders were, he still took his mother home from the front door and held a funeral for her in his own way, which was called "shocking the world" at that time.
Those who come to pay homage to his dead mother don't have to bow down, just bow down and mourn. At that time, it caused great repercussions and was published in many newspapers. Whether this move was Li Shutong's own resistance to the feudal etiquette system, or expressed his dissatisfaction with his mother in such a fierce way.
Only Li Shutong knows the answer.

Young Yang, like a peach with dew, is sweet and delicious, which makes people want to take a bite.
During that time, Li Shutong was a young man in his prime. I go to see Yang's plays almost every night, which gradually attracts Yang's attention. One is a frequent visitor to the theater, and the other is a singer. They get to know each other again and again, and in the long run, they have an intersection.
Since I met Yang, he has often come to worship him. The monotonous and heavy study life at home made him difficult to breathe. Here in Yang, he found the long-lost freedom and happiness that belonged to his time.
Once he went to Shanghai because of something, and because he missed him, he wrote two poems for Yang and Bodhisattva Yang:
Yan Zhishan's flowers are like snow, and Yan Zhishan's people are like the moon. The eyebrows are scattered in the green clouds, and the eyebrows are light. After sunset and rain, autumn leaves are sparse. When I was young, I was afraid to say it.
Xiaofeng is weak and lazy, and forgets her gossamer when she falls in love. When the wine wakes up, the moon marks are low, and Du Yu cries Jiangnan. With a crazy soul pin twisted, I want to wear Hua Die. The flowers are shaded outside the curtain, and the dreams are fragrant.
However, there are countless suitors around Yang. She doesn't care about her association with her, and prostitutes are not single-minded about love. As a famous actress, Yang will have a lot of entertainment and performances, and her fate will be at a mixed banquet.
It was a lively banquet, and Yang sang her famous "Hua Tian Ba Cuo" as usual. The protagonist of this banquet is Xiao Wang Zaizhen. When Shang Shu of the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Commerce was watching a play in Tianjin Grand View Garden, young and beautiful Yang was fascinated by him. At this time, Yang's every move as a famous actress has emotional significance. In the process of singing, Yang kept winking at Zaizhen and looked at him in a coquetry way. She watched her heart burn because of herself, and she worked harder to exert her charm. ...
Duan, general manager of Tianjin Southern Patrol Department, saw this scene and fell in love with it. He bought Yang with twelve thousand gold and gave it to Jae-jin, who later became a little prince. Duan therefore rose to the third level.

After the Reform Movement of 1898, Li Shutong, who just got married, moved to Shanghai with her mother, wife and children because she was questioned to participate in the innovation, and also in order to get her mother out of this depressed life. Although I went to Shanghai to avoid disaster, I ushered in the happiest years of Li Shutong's life.
Li Shutong said: "The five or six years between the ages of twenty and twenty-six were the happiest time in my life."
Shortly after arriving in Shanghai, he joined the "Chengnan Literature Society" organized by Shanghai celebrity Xu, and made a number of people through outstanding talents.
He was married to Xu, the leader of the new school in Shanghai, Cai Xiaoxiang, a famous doctor in Shanghai, Zhang, a master of calligraphy and painting, and the Yuan family in Baoshan, and was called "five friends in the end of the world".
In the same year, the family moved into a thatched cottage in the south of the city, where Xu lived. His eldest son Lee Joon and his second son Li Duan were born here.
During this period, Li Shutong had planned to organize his own art school, but he learned from his second brother that his family was on the verge of bankruptcy and could not provide huge preparatory expenses, which was another heavy blow to Li Shutong's industry to serve the country.
1894- 1895 was defeated in the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War of 1895, and the land was ceded with compensation of 200 million taels of silver. Kang Youwei and more than 1000 people signed a letter in Beijing, bluntly saying that China could not live without changing the law. Civil unrest and war came, which was a blow to Li Shutong, who had just set foot on the journey of life and devoted himself to serving the country.
The situation is turbulent and the career path is not smooth. It is also a great regret in his life that he can't realize the heart of serving the country.
Li Shutong bears the burden of family decline, and his heart is tied to two families and two sons. Suffering from the tearing of the secular and ideal, the entanglement of love and affection, the bleak career and future, and the mental and physical torture.
No wonder it's "constant sentimentality". It's time to become a monk.

Li Shutong's understanding of life is beyond the reach of ordinary people, whose requirements for life are the first level of material life; Moreover, the higher level is spiritual life. Only a few people can reach the third level of life and think about the problems raised by life.
Li Shutong is one of the few people who can reach the third level of life. He chose a Buddhist resort as a quiet environment to think about some problems. After becoming a monk, he didn't stop, killing time in dusk and morning bell. Among monks, there have always been many preachers, but few preachers. He must find the way that suits him best. After becoming a monk, he made a vow: not to be an abbot, not to shave others, not to be a teacher, that is, to preach and dispel doubts and become a scholar-type philosopher and monk. Under the guidance of friends such as Ma Yifu, he studied Nanshan Law, which has been lost for seven or eight hundred years, and finally became the 11th ZTE lawyer of Nanshan Law.
