After reading the vulnerability prevention, I don't know how long it took, from the mobile phone to the iPad and then to the mobile phone. I decided to write down my feelings.
The reason for reading is that I don't want some people to talk to others with theories I'm not familiar with. I really started reading it and thought it was a good reference book. At least, it gives a new path in self-cognition and provides a new way of thinking.
In the conclusion, the author wrote that in fact, this book revolves around a central idea, that is, anti-fragile expansion, and all the sentences in the book are the derivation, application or explanation of the central idea. This led to a large number of economic or medical concepts in the book, such as Lindy effect, black swan incident, iatrogenic injury, etc ... It also led to my full interest in reading this book for the first time, and I was puzzled after reading half of it, but I stumbled but persisted in the later period. After all, I am also a staunch supporter of anti-vulnerability.
In the book, it is also the concept of anti-vulnerability that inspires me a lot. I always prefer the uncertainty and randomness in my life, and I can benefit from the influence. I can thrive when exposed to volatility, randomness, chaos and stress, risk and uncertainty.
There are too many interesting theories in the book. When I was reading a book, I emphasized several points:
1. Black Swan Event: refers to a large-scale event that causes extensive and serious consequences, unpredictable and irregular.
When you seek order, you get only superficial order; When you embrace randomness, you can grasp the order and control the situation.
Your body can predict the future better than you.
Go all out to achieve the ultimate.
Apart from economic activities, the most fragile thing is the love or hate that is hard to die out.
Those who bring us the greatest benefits, those who try to hurt us but fail in the end.
3. Tiny commotion and anxiety nourish the soul, and it is not peace but freedom that makes species prosper.
We should focus on action, don't rely too much on outside comments, and keep strong and resilient in the face of others.
To end my reading with a sentence in the book, Prometheus likes disorder, and Epimetheus hates disorder.
Anti-fragile thinking II. Anti-Vulnerability is an inspiring book written by Nicholas, a famous economist and venture capitalist. Taleb, this book is divided into 25 chapters. Through seemingly loose and unrelated cases, this paper introduces to us what is "fragility" and "anti-fragility", and why we should learn anti-fragility and improve our anti-fragility ability and methods.
A glass is very beautiful on the table, and it will break instantly when it falls to the ground, so the glass is fragile; If it is a plastic cup that falls to the ground, it will not break but bounce on the ground twice, so the plastic cup is strong; Imagine a cup. When it fell to the ground, it became two cups instead of being broken. At this time, it is anti-vulnerability. The anti-vulnerability mentioned in the book is simply: the ability to benefit from the impact of sudden changes.
In "Anti-Fragility", Taleb tells us the rules of living in an uncertain world. He discovered and defined "anti-fragility": everything will benefit from fluctuations or suffer losses. Vulnerability refers to losses due to fluctuation and uncertainty, and anti-vulnerability refers to avoiding these losses and even profiting from chaos and uncertainty. He pointed out the core art of anti-fragile thought, namely emotional instability and ideological struggle.
Nietzsche has a famous saying: "What can't kill me makes me stronger." Just as people's bones will become stronger under pressure and tension, and rumors or riots will intensify when someone tries to suppress them, many things in life will benefit from pressure, chaos, fluctuation and uncertainty. The wind will blow out the candles, but it will make the fire burn more and more brightly. The same is true of randomness, uncertainty and chaos: you should use them instead of avoiding them. You want to be a fire, eager for the wind to blow.
As an ordinary person, what I know about anti-vulnerability is to have a strong heart and actively seek changes and challenges. Taleb's last sentence was written in my heart. Glass is a dead thing, and creatures like to fluctuate. The best way to verify whether you are alive is to check whether you like change. Remember, if you don't feel hungry, you will feel like chewing wax; If there is no effort, the result is meaningless; Similarly, if you have not experienced pain, you will not know how to be happy, and if you have not experienced hardships, your faith will not be strong; Being deprived of personal risks, ethical life is naturally meaningless.
After reading Anti-Fragility, I was attracted by the concept of "Anti-Fragility" for the first time. I have only heard of fragility and non-fragility, but I don't know much about anti-fragility, and I don't know the true meaning of anti-fragility. Generally speaking, anti-vulnerability refers to being able to gain benefits from sudden changes. For example, if a glass is placed on a table, it will break instantly when it falls to the ground. The glass is fragile. If a cup doesn't break after falling to the ground, it becomes two beautiful cups, which are shatterproof.
The article mentioned a concept that the wind will blow out the candle and make the fire burn more and more brightly, which led us to think about a concept. For uncertain things, we should think about how to use them, not avoid them. Randomness and uncertainty have always existed in this world, and people always tend to feel safe and certain. This is a typical herd mentality. Conformity psychology has its profound rationality, because as a "crowd", most of the time they tend to seek safety.
However, randomness and uncertainty force us to face this problem. This paper gives the corresponding coping strategy-barbell strategy, that is, diversify your investment, that is, never put your eggs in the same basket.
Things have only two dimensions, like length and short, like brightness and darkness, like fragility and non-fragility. Why does the third dimension appear out of thin air-preventing vulnerability? It is reasonable for Wang Jingbo to attribute this to the living mental intervention in his "Steven Jing Yu". In addition to the integrity and fragmentation of life, there is a third choice: growth, that is, continuous learning in the impact and progress in mistakes. The source of our continuous growth is the constant impact and self-reflection from the outside world, which is what each of us expects and grasps-how to grow in uncertainty.
It can be said that the nature of the world is uncertain, and certainty only exists in human thinking. The pursuit of certainty comes from the fear of uncertainty, which requires us to reflect frequently. Life is short and things change. It is worth spending time worrying about and predicting the arrival of the black swan; On the contrary, we should face every setback seriously. Without pain, there will be no memory. We should seize every opportunity to reflect and always know what we want. What's there? What do you need to give up? Follow the trend.
It's been half a year since I read Anti-Vulnerability. Special thanks to Mr. Zhou for his inspiration to organize a book club. I am especially grateful to my friends for their constant companionship and to myself. At that time, I bravely signed up for this activity.
In June this year, we read Taleb's Anti-Fragility, and what impressed us most was:
The thinking logic of solving problems: nonlinear thinking.
Many times, when we make mistakes, we are used to solving them around the wrong points. Forcing the nonlinear relationship between cause and effect to be a predictable linear relationship may not really solve the problem completely. In order to be invincible in the ever-changing world, we need to embrace change, turn ourselves into an anti-fragile system, and live like life instead of a machine.
Thinking logic to solve career planning: barbell strategy.
The barbell is heavy at both ends and light in the middle. It can be understood that the best and worst extreme situations are the key points we need to pay attention to, and the moderate situation in the middle is exactly what we need to avoid, so as to avoid meaningless things involving more time and energy. We can put most of our resources on things with certain benefits and low risks, and put a small amount of resources on things with high risks and high returns, and give up things with medium risks and medium returns.
The thinking logic of raising children: anti-fragile thinking.
In the past, I always didn't want my children to be hit, ignored or frustrated. Even if the damage is minimal, I still try my best to solve it for the children. I hope that what children feel is only the friendliness and affirmation of the world. I feel like Damocles, especially vulnerable. Thinking about your previous behavior and thinking about your expectations for your children is completely contrary, because an old mother's heart is completely undisciplined.
The case of Hydra made me understand that our children need to be baptized by the challenges and difficulties of life in order to become more frustrated and brave and gradually form an anti-fragile system. We are the strong backing of children's growth, and we should not act as an umbrella to isolate these challenges from the growth nutrients that children need. Overprotection can only raise vulnerable children.
Consciousness and acceptance. The road of our children's growth is full of more uncertainty, so how to deal with it is particularly important. In the face of uncertainty, we need to learn to accept and embrace ourselves first, which is the starting point for everything to be good.
Reading Anti-Fragility for the first time made me feel obscure. Finally, after reading it, I saw the small print on the cover, under the big word "anti-vulnerability": "benefit from uncertainty" Have an epiphany. If we invest in futures, we will benefit from uncertainty. If you want to benefit, you must establish your own anti-fragile system.
The word "anti-vulnerability" is invented by the author, which means "we should design a lifestyle that will not be damaged by risks after various accidents, but will gain additional benefits." In nature, everything will benefit or be damaged by fluctuations. Vulnerability is the loss caused by volatility and uncertainty. However, anti-vulnerability is the benefit.
There are three main points I understand about establishing an "anti-vulnerability" system.
First, reduce unfavorable factors and reduce vulnerability. Risk can be avoided and vulnerability can be reduced by overcompensation, and intervention in the system is also an effective way to reduce vulnerability.
Second, pay attention to the application of barbell strategy. A very effective way to improve the ability to resist vulnerability is to adopt barbell strategy. Barbell strategy is not a prediction of the future, in fact, the future is difficult to predict. To put it simply, in the overall investment strategy, don't put your eggs in one basket, invest more in low-risk assets to avoid a devastating blow to us, and at the same time invest a small part of your capital in high-risk assets with unlimited returns. I found that the strategy of high-level investors is generally like this. They will lose a little in many investments, but they will win a lot at a time, while low-level investors may win a little many times and then lose all at once.
Third, active and rational "trial and error". Many times, although we can't predict the future trend after a lot of analysis and reasoning, we need to try and make mistakes. Taleb calls it "option", and "option" or "trial and error" is the ultimate weapon in the face of uncertainty. Our transaction is essentially a trial and error process. We need to "follow the trend" and adjust our behavior in time, such as "stop loss" in the trading process, in order to achieve a successful transaction.
