Missing the customs of Gaochun’s hometown! In recent years, I have gradually discovered that some customs and cultures around me have begun to degrade, such as speaking of Bodhisattvas, dancing on pony lanterns, etc. I heard people say that it is the government It's not allowed. They say it's some kind of superstitious activity that's not allowed to be held! I was very unhappy when I heard the news. Why isn't it allowed to be held? This is Gaochun's hundreds of years of culture. It can't be forgotten by people like this. Think about the past. When I was a child, I also participated in the horse lantern vaulting. I thought it was quite fun. Now that I am older, I can’t help but feel nostalgic when I look back! What I want to say now is that we Gaochun people cannot just treat the unique culture of our hometown like this, but still cherish it. Maintaining the fine culture of 5,000 years! I hope everyone can talk to me about their opinions. Various naming methods: 1. Names based on generation. People in Gaochun generally have "big names" and "little names" (also called "milk names") ), like a scientific name and a nickname. A name based on generational ranking is a daimyo, that is, a name used on formal occasions. It generally looks like this: 1. Pay attention to taboos (1) The pronunciation of the name must never be the same or close to the name of the elders in the family. ⑵ Avoid conflicts between the names of close relatives. 2. It is more prudent to choose a famous name. You often have to ask a "sir" or a famous person to choose it, and you are often referred to in society by the name given by someone to increase your social status. The name rarely uses a single character, and usually the first character is the character generation (there are exceptions, such as the Korean surname "Xian", the character generation, but "Xian" is in the last position, which may be related to the meaning of the character.) An additional character is added. It is not casual. There are two situations: ⑴ It has profound meaning and is more elegant. For example, it should be named after "building, beam, tree", or named after "wisdom, faith, sincerity, courage, strictness", or named after characters from Confucian classics. ⑵ Named after the five elements. The five elements are mutually reinforcing and inhibiting each other. In the old days, people used this name to harmonize the excess and deficiency of yin and yang, achieve the balance between hardness and softness, and turn evil into good. Through numerology calculation, that is, the year, month, day, and hour of a person's birth are used as the "four pillars", and the heavenly stems and earthly branches are used as the "birthday and eight characters". Based on this, the person's five elements are deduced, and remedial measures are taken in naming: A. Form complement. Remedy the missing five elements in the glyph structure. If there is a lack of wood, use the word "wood" in the name, such as forest, tree, wood, etc. B. Meaningful supplement. Fill in the gaps according to the meaning of the words in five lines. If there is no wood, the name can be given by characters such as Xiu, Xiang, and Lotus. C. Quality supplement. Fill in the gaps according to the nature of things in five elements. If there is no wood, the name can be given by words such as spring, green, and benevolence. D. Ke Kang. If one of the five elements is too strong, it is often easy to break, and measures must be taken to restrain it. If the wood energy is strong and strong, it must be controlled by metal, and the name should be named after the metal aspect. 3. The woman was not named after her generation, and she did not have a big name originally. After her death, the epitaph was inscribed with something like "Mother of Xu (family) Yang..." etc. This means that this woman was the mother of a family with the surname of Xu, and her surname was Yang; but something happened later. With the change, women from famous families or intellectual families began to take famous names, and ordinary people followed suit, so women began to have famous names. In addition, intellectuals or famous people usually have font names, but ordinary people do not. 2. "Suffixes" using the word "head" as nicknames 1. Naming based on color. For example: green head, black head, blue head, red head, green head, etc. There is no yellow head or white head in the name. Yellow head and white head are taboo or have unlucky meanings. 2. Name them with numbers to distinguish the order of size. For example: big head (no "one head"), small head (sometimes called "two heads"), three heads, four heads, five heads, six heads, seven heads, eight heads. Generally, there are not many people who give birth to nine children. Moreover, "Nine Heads" sounds like "turning head" (in some places in Gaochun), which is unlucky. Therefore, there is no name for "Nine Heads", let alone "Ten Heads" (which sounds like "Tie Tou"). "). The boss is not called "One Head", but "Big Head", with a loud pronunciation. The last habit is called "Old Man". 3. Examples of names based on physical characteristics or properties: big head, small head (these two names sometimes serve to differentiate between elders and younger ones, and sometimes they are named purely because of the big head and the small head.), new head, old head, long head Head, square head, flat head, etc. No "points". Pointed head, in Gao Chun's words, refers to a person who loves to take advantage of small things or works hard to gain benefits for himself. 4. Examples of naming based on materials: tin head, silver head, gold head, wood, water head, fire head, jade head. There seems to be no "copper head", "iron head", and no "earth head" (there is a word in Gaochun dialect: "Tutou" or "Rustic" is mostly used in a derogatory sense, meaning an upright character and a blunt attitude, not "rustic"), "Stone" (pronounced "thief"). 5. Examples of naming based on seasons: spring head, autumn head, rarely "winter head" ("winter head" is a homophony of "crouching"), and no "xiatou" ("xiatou" is a homophony of "xiatou") ", "下头头" means "down below" or "cut off the head".) 6. Examples of naming animals: dragon head, tiger head, sheep head, duck head, no "chicken head" or "pig head". In addition, although Gaochun people often name their names after "dogs", they do not have "dog heads". Dog heads and pig heads are very derogatory. 7. Examples of naming flowers, plants and trees: chrysanthemum head, pine head, wood, orchid head, cotton head, cabbage head, rice head, without "huatou" ("huatou laozi" is a derogatory word in Gaochun dialect. It originally refers to Yuan In the Yuan Dynasty, every 10 families supported a Yuan Tarzi, and they had to be invited together once every August 15th. This person was called the "flower-headed old man", which later refers to a person who is extremely picky and difficult to serve.
) 8. Naming based on feelings. For example: Tian (sweet) head, La (spicy) head, Xiangtou, no "bitter head", "stinky head", "sour head", and no "slippery head". There is no deep meaning in Gaochun people's nicknames after "tou", and they often call them casually and even in various ways. A slight classification is made to clarify the cultural and psychological orientation of the occasional "non-casual" in "casual". 3. Nicknames based on birth weight are "Qi Jin" and "Eight Jin", which are the most common. There are also "Five Jin" and "Liu Jin", but there are very few others. 4. Nicknames based on animals include ducks, kittens, calves, rabbits, sheep, etc. Pigs, chickens, and geese are not used. Among them, those named after dogs are the most distinctive. For example, those born in the twelfth lunar month are called "Dong Gouzi" and "Lagouzi", the second child is called "Little Dog Zi", the third child is called "San Gouzi", etc. Dogs are probably the most common in the local area, have a high survival rate, and are easy to raise, so they chose dog names in the hope that their children would grow up safely. 5. Names based on physiological characteristics. This name is similar to a nickname. In other places, there are many "Wang Mazi", "Crazy Li", and "Chen Zizi". The names given by Gaochun people are different from them. They often live in groups and have the same surname, so they only use one key of the original name in their names. The characters are placed before the physical characteristics, not the surname. Such as: Xiangmazi, Yuntuozi, Chunzhizi, etc. ..6. Examples of names based on auspicious words: Fumei, Changlu, Qiuxi, Songshou, etc. 7. Examples of naming based on place names: Nanjing, Beijing, Suzhou, Changzhou, Hangzhou, etc. 8. Examples of naming vegetables and fruits: pumpkin, winter melon. 9. Call a married woman based on her place of birth or her natal family, followed by "Lao", which is the same as her given name. For example: Gaochunlao, Xiabalao, Hancunlao, etc. 10. Adding "lao" to a place name refers to all outsiders. Sometimes it refers to a specific person (when both parties in the conversation know it), and sometimes it refers to a general person (when not sure). For example: Nanking guy, Shanghai guy, Subei guy, etc. 11. In order to differentiate between genders, the first letter of a woman's nickname is often added with "美头" (for a girl), while for a man, "伢业" (for a boy) is added. For example: women include - Fat Beauty Head, Black Beauty Head, Red Beauty Head, Blue Beauty Head, Wax Beauty Head, Haomei Head, Fragrant Beauty Head, Water Beauty Head, etc. Men have - Xiangyaye, Duoye, Yunye, Jianye, Fangye, Liuye, etc. There are also those who add "big", "small" or numbers before "美头" and "伢业". Such as: Da Ya Ye, Xiao Mei Tou, San Ya Ye, Si Mei Tou, etc. "Fake beauty head" is an interesting and common nickname. "Pretty head" is fake, so it is often used as a boy's name, just like today's "tomboy", that is, a girl. Cultural characteristics of naming: Gaochun people choose names simply and conveniently, and may seem random, but upon closer inspection, you will find that they are in line with traditional Chinese culture: 1. They have a strong sense of family, respect traditional culture, and attach great importance to naming. 2. Despise women. A woman has no first name or she loses her original name after getting married and is called by the place of birth, which shows that women lack social status and family status. 3. Use humble names to pray for peace and health, but the humbler is not always better. We often consider the coordination with the local culture, seek good fortune and avoid evil, seek advantages and avoid disadvantages. If there is no "dog head" or "summer head", there will be more "luck", "lu", "longevity", "happiness", etc. 4. Pay attention to the distinguishing role of "nicknames", that is, their symbolic meaning, followed by cultural significance. This captures the essential meaning of names. Specifically: ⑴ Pay attention to gender differences. ⑵ Pay attention to distinguish between elder and younger. ⑶ Pay attention to character characteristics. ⑷Finally, pay attention to good or bad luck and simple wishes. It should be said that there is no essential difference between traditional naming and today's naming. Nowadays, people's names are more euphemistic, more elegant, and more colorful. Therefore, we do not need to make fun of the names of our elders such as "Gouzi" and "Chuntou". On the contrary, we should have more respect for the names of our elders. This is also respect for Gaochun's customary culture and respect for Gaochun's history. In this way we will love Gao Chun even more. Of course, the Gaochun people's traditional naming method has its limitations, and this is what we need to abandon.
The author is pleased to see that the Gaochun people have done a good job in this regard. Modern and traditional names are constantly ringing in their ears. As for the "foreign names" that are popular in some places, they have no place among the Gaochun people. land
