How to plant banyan trees

1. When the seeds of Ficus are ripe, they should be collected in time, dried and stored until the next spring. Sandy soil and saprophytic soil can be used as sowing substrates for open seedbeds. Large-caliber flowerpots can replace seedbeds and can be filled with mountain soil and plain sand.

2. The cutting propagation of Ficus microcarpa has strong germination and regeneration ability, and it is easy to survive after cutting.

Banyan trees are suitable for cutting with old branches and heels, and the time is from May to June. Cutting method of old branches: on the selected old branches, first cut off the branches with a woodworking saw, and then cut the saw mouth into a horseshoe-shaped oblique mouth with a sharp knife. At the same time, the cuttings should be smooth and not damage the cortex, and the cuttings are easy to take root. However, the old branches take root slowly, and 0 can be used before insertion. Soak the cuttings base with 0. 1% NAA aqueous solution for 5 ~ 10 seconds, and insert with soaking. When cutting, you can make holes with bamboo sticks, and then insert the cuttings into the seedbed to prevent the base from being broken and injured. The suitable depth of cuttings inserted into soil is 5 ~ 7 cm. After inserting it, water it once, and then build a shed for shade. The height of the shed is 60 ~ 80 cm, so it is convenient to spray water on the leaves frequently (the soil in the basin should not be too wet). After 10 days, you can receive weak sunlight in the morning and evening, and callus can be produced in about half a month. After 30 days, the root primordium appears, and new roots can grow in 40 ~ 45 days.

If it is a miniature bonsai seedling, in spring and summer, select the vigorous and simple old branches that grow crosswise, cut them off with the heel, and leave 2 ~ 3 leaves at a time, and then trim them appropriately according to the modeling needs. The cut should be smooth, the cortex should not be damaged, and the branch treatment is the same as above. They should be inserted into the flowerpot seedbed, watered and placed in the semi-shade. In order to keep the soil moist and improve the relative humidity of the air, plastic film can be covered on the flowerpot to facilitate the rooting of cuttings. 10 day or so, new buds will sprout on the upper part of the cuttings, and new roots will be seen after half a month, which can be used as miniature bonsai in autumn.
