Han Yu believes that the teachings of Buddhism are contrary to Confucianism, and in view of the great harm caused by "welcoming Buddha's bones" to the country and people, Han Yu wrote "On the Table of Buddha's bones", advocating that Buddhism should not be believed, discussing the shortcomings of Buddhism, and criticizing the supreme ruler and the social customs of worshiping Buddhism.
It embodies the author's resolute opposition to Tang Xianzong's superstitious behavior of worshipping Buddha's bones, and fully shows the author's firm stand against Buddhism and Confucianism and fearless fighting spirit.
