Where is Di Renjie from? Where is Bingzhou in ancient times now?

Di Renjie was born in Taiyuan, Bingzhou, which is now Taiyuan, Shanxi.

Di Renjie’s tomb is located next to the White Horse Temple, 12 kilometers east of Luoyang City (now included in the White Horse Temple). It is a round mound. There are two steles in front of the tomb. The larger stone has the words "Cemetery of Di Liang, a loyal minister of the Tang Dynasty" written on it.

Di Renjie was born in the Di family of Taiyuan. He passed the Ming Dynasty in his early years and served successively as the magistrate of Bianzhou, the governor of Bingzhou, the chief minister of Dali Temple, the censor of Shi, the doctor of Duzhi, the governor of Ningzhou, and the official of winter. He held positions such as Vice Minister, Wenchang Youcheng, Yuzhou Governor, Fuzhou Governor, and Luozhou Sima, etc. He was famous for not fearing the powerful.

In September of the second year of Tianshou (691), Di Renjie was promoted to prime minister and served as the local official's minister and Tongping Zhangshi. However, after only four months in office, he was framed by the ruthless official Lai Junchen for treason and was deprived of his position and imprisoned. After being rehabilitated, he was demoted to the magistrate of Pengze County. He was resurrected during the Yingzhou Rebellion and worshiped the prime minister again in the first year of Shengong (697). He served as the Minister of Luantai and Tongping Zhangshi, and went to worship Nayan. Later, Yan Zhijian urged Wu Zetian to reestablish Luling King Li Xian as the prince, so that the Tang Dynasty could continue.

In the first year of Jiushi (700), Di Renjie entered the imperial family and died of illness in September of the same year. He was given the posthumous title Wenhui as the right prime minister of Wenchang. After the restoration of the Tang Dynasty, he was given posthumously to Sikong and Liang Guogong.
