The common name is Ren Zhigang, president of the Chinese Taoist Association. His ancestral home is Tianshui City, Gansu Province, and he was born in A.D. 1936. My family has been farming for generations and comes from a poor family. I lost my father and three brothers in my childhood, and Ren Farong was the youngest. His grandfather was a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, who was quite proficient in Confucianism and made a living by teaching. Under the influence of my grandfather's education, my mother also read through the four books of Confucianism and often read classic books of Buddhism and Taoism.
