As mentioned above, root rot of potted flowers is generally caused by improper watering, excessive fertilization, mechanical damage and poor soil permeability. Whatever the reason, how can we find out the root system problem? Teach everyone three tricks? A test? 、? Second, see? 、? Three touches? You can judge whether there is a problem with the root system.
1、? A test? Generally speaking, the roots of normally growing plants should constantly absorb water, especially in summer and dry autumn. For example, after you have poured water for the first time, the basin soil is relatively wet at this time. You can try it with sticks or chopsticks first. If the lower part is wet, there will be no problem. The next day, the soil in the basin was slightly dry and white, and there was a little water in the lower part of the root and little water in the upper part, indicating that the root system absorbed some water. If you look at it the next day, there is almost no change in the pot soil, which means that rotten roots may have occurred, and it will remain like this after 3-4 days, which means that your potted plants have rotten roots. Test with a stick, which is an intuitive reflection.
2、? Second, see? Once root rot occurs, it first manifests itself on leaves. It includes three parts: leaf shape, leaf color and tip. what do you think?
(1), leaf color observation: I compare 3-4 pots of similar plants. If a pot withers, loses its luster, or yellow leaves fall off during growth, it means that root rot is caused by excessive drying and fertilization.
(2) Observe the leaf shape: If the leaves are wrinkled and deformed (mainly referring to potted flowers with fleshy roots), the nutrient supply will be unbalanced because of rotten roots, and the growth will be out of sync. The places with more nutrients will grow well, and the places with less nutrients will be malnourished.
(3) Observe the tip: When the tip begins to brown and zoom, root rot is likely to occur. This kind of root system generally occurs in thick roots such as tuberous roots and fleshy roots, and in flowerpots with small roots and large roots. Flower friends who cultivate fleshy roots in potted plants should pay attention. Never water when the temperature is high, the soil temperature is high and the water temperature is low. No matter how much water you water it, the roots can easily touch the roots, so that nutrients can not be transported to all parts of the plant normally, which affects the growth and leads to withering and yellowing. There is also a pot with a big flower, which is easy to cause water accumulation and rotten roots.
3、? Three touches? This is the most intuitive feeling. Although there are many reasons why the leaves turn green, wither and zoom, the leaves caused by rotten roots feel anxious and warm. Once you have this feeling, it means that you are on the verge of death. Whether it can be saved depends on luck.
In short, root rot must be discovered and prevented early, otherwise it will be too late to regret.
Second, how to deal with root rot correctly after it is discovered:
Generally speaking, there are some differences in the treatment methods of rotten roots before and after. If you find it earlier, you will simply deal with it, and if you find it later, you will have to change the pot.
(1), pretreatment method of rotten roots:
1, remove yellow leaves or cut dead branches.
2. Separate the pot from the soil, air dry it properly, and then put it in the shade to slow down the seedlings. (Leaves and buds)
3. Dilute the pot soil with water, dilute the fertilizer, and then put it on the balcony or window to dry. (excessive fertilization burns roots)
(2) Post-treatment of rotten roots:
1. Trim two-thirds of the branches and all the leaves will be pulled out.
2. Pot removal, soil separation and root rot removal.
3. Root soaking and disinfection with Bordeaux solution or potassium permanganate solution.
4. After disinfection and air-drying, don't put it in a pot immediately. Wrap the root system with plant ash or matrix first.
5. Put 1/3 matrix or pot soil into the pot, then spread a layer of fine sand, and hold the wrapped seedlings in one hand, and plant them while returning the soil.
6. After planting is completed, water it. Put it in the shade for 3-5 days, reduce watering at seedling stage, and spray more foliar water, but don't touch water or fertilize.
7. After the seedlings are delayed, if they germinate again, a new round of maintenance will be started.
The above are some suggestions and opinions of my Greentown landscape engineer on the treatment of rotten roots, hoping to be helpful to the maintenance and management of flower potted plants for flower friends. If you have better comments or other maintenance and management problems, you can leave a message in the comments area and discuss them together.
