When all the mountains are leveled, the sky and the earth merge, and only then will I leave you. Where did it come from?

The phrase "The mountain has no edges, the heaven and the earth are in harmony, and dare to break the monarch" comes from the folk song Shang Xie of Han Yuefu.

Original works:

Evil!

I want to know you,

Live a long life and never give up.

A mountain without a grave,

The river dried up,

Thunder and earthquakes in winter,

Rain and snow in summer,

Heaven and earth,

I dare break up with you!

Vernacular translation

Oh, my god

I am eager to know and cherish you,

This heart will never fade.

Unless the majestic mountains disappear,

Unless the raging river dries up.

Unless thunder rolls in the cold winter,

Unless it is hot and snowy,

Unless heaven and earth intersect and converge,

I dare to abandon my good feelings for you!

Creation background

Regret for the Past is one of the Eighteen Poems of Gui, which belongs to Yuefu prose songs. Regret for the Past is a folk love song, a love poem with strong feelings and unrestrained momentum. In this poem, this woman expresses her eternal feelings for her lover. She swore by heaven and witnessed by the earth that she would always love her lover.

The Dictionary of Poetry Appreciation in Han, Wei and Six Dynasties holds that thinking should be combined. "Thinking" is to consider breaking up, and "evil" is a firmer oath after making up your mind. Yuefu Poetry Appreciation Dictionary holds that they are independent of each other.

Literary appreciation

"Evil" means "God" and "knowing each other" means loving each other. This sentence means, "Oh, my God! I want to fall in love with you, so that our feelings will never break or rot. " In order to prove her perseverance, she listed five impossible variations in nature one after another: "There are no tombs in the mountains, no exhausted rivers, thunder in winter, rain and snow in summer, and heaven and earth are in harmony." It means: if you want to betray your vows, unless the mountains are flat and the water is dry, there will be thunderstorms in winter and heavy snow in summer, and heaven and earth will be one! The heroines give full play to their imaginations, and each one is imaginative and incredible. By the time of "harmony between heaven and earth", her imagination was out of control, and she thought aimlessly that all the environments on which human beings depended no longer existed. This irrational, exaggerated and grotesque fantasy is a special form for this spoony woman to express her love. These impossible natural phenomena are regarded by the lyric heroine as the condition of "leaving you", which means that "leaving you" is absolutely impossible. And the result? Only oneself and "Jun" love each other forever.

Write the whole poem without embellishment. The three words of "evil" are abrupt and imposing, swear by heaven and tell the truth, which not only shows the intense love, but also expresses the pent-up anger. The word "long life" is powerful, firm and full of loyalty. The word "desire" vividly shows women's character of resisting the shackles of ethics and pursuing a happy life. Although these three sentences have not been portrayed, the image of a true and firm, loyal and strong woman has clearly stood in front of the readers.
