In a narrow sense, the western region refers to the west of Yumenguan and Yangguan, the green ridge is east of Pamirs, east and south of Balkhash Lake and the vast area of Xinjiang. The western regions in a broad sense refer to all the regions that can be reached in a narrow sense, including Central Asia and West Asia.
In ancient Chinese literature, geographical location words mostly refer to many countries and regions west of Yumenguan and Yangguan. Under the influence of the Silk Road, the Western Regions refer to most areas of China, Xinjiang and parts of Central Asia under the jurisdiction of the administrative agencies arranged by the China government during the Han and Tang Dynasties. They are located in the center of Eurasia and are an important part of the Silk Road.
