The name Chifeng comes from the Mongolian word "Ulan Hada", which means red peak. It is named after an ocher-red mountain in the northeast. It is a historical mountain in the north. Speaking of Hongshan, there is also a beautiful and touching mythical story spread. It is said that a long time ago, the Red Mountain was not red, but a shining, unpredictable and colorful mountain peak. Whenever the sunset was shining, the golden light shone with thousands of auspicious signs. At the foot of the mountain, there was a huge water city reaching to the horizon, and the lake surface was calm. , like a makeup mirror; the air mass changes and the waves surge, as if clouds and mist are rising and floating. Fish are jumping and gulls are shooting, flying flowers are flying, and golden waves are shining. Yellow flowers, wild lilies, and columbine flowers are everywhere, clusters in clusters, like a fairyland. One day, the nine daughters of the Queen Mother of the West, who had been living in the Tiangong Yaochi for a long time, were unwilling to be left alone. They sneaked out of the Nantianmen and walked on the auspicious clouds to the foot of the Red Mountain. They took off their skirts and jumped into the blue waves one by one. Suddenly, the water bloomed. Blossoming white lotus. When the Queen Mother found out about the nine girls descending to earth, she was furious and ordered Taibai Jinxing to descend to earth and quickly ordered the nine girls to return to heaven. At this time, the fairy had finished bathing and was dressing up. Suddenly she saw Taibai Jinxing arriving and personally passed on the Queen Mother's oral instructions. When the girls saw that it was past noon, they knew something was wrong and flew away in a hurry. In their panic, they accidentally scattered the rouge on the mountain. From then on, the colorful mountains turned into red peaks. Just when the fairies were about to return to the heavenly palace, dark clouds rolled, lightning flashed and thunder, and a group of heavenly soldiers and generals surrounded the fairies. The Jade Emperor issued an edict, banishing the nine fairies to the mortal world and turning them into stone, never to be allowed again. Return to Heavenly Palace. Seeing this, Taibai Jinxing had no choice but to say goodbye with tears. At this time, Shen Lei exploded again, and the heavy rain continued for nine days and nine nights. After the rain, the Nine Girls turned into nine peaks, towering in the Red Mountain. At that time, the lightning struck too hard, forcing the water of Jinhu Lake to flow back. Backtracking, it loops around the foothills of the mountains, and then flows eastward through twists and turns to join the Tuhe River. The folk song "Red Mountain has nine heads, Yingjin water flows backwards" is still circulated in Chifeng area. The famous writer Mr. Lao She once left a poem: "The red mountains reflect the green pond on the fortress, and the willows can be seen from the thatched pavilion. Don't ask for news about autumn in the wind. The wild geese don't want to return and the flowers are late."
