Wukong, Wuneng, and Wujing, why were the three disciples of Monk Tang so named?

Journey to the West is one of my country's four famous novels. The plot is twists and turns, weird and interesting. The whole text seems to be telling a mysterious mythical story, but in fact the whole book is related to Buddhist thought. The names of the three disciples in Journey to the West also contain deep Buddhist thoughts. Wukong was named by Bodhi Patriarch, and Wukong and Wukong were named by Avalokitesvara. Among them, Wukong, Wuneng, and Wujing correspond to the three refuges of Buddhism. , representing different states and realms of Buddhism.

First of all, Wukong means taking refuge in Buddha in Buddhism. As we all know, Wukong's name was given by Master Bodhi. His disciples were all named according to characters. When Sun Wukong became the disciple of Master Bodhi, Sun Wukong happened to be the tenth disciple of Master Bodhi, so he was assigned? Yingwuyuanjue means the word "enlightenment", and then Patriarch Bodhi added a blank word after the word "enlightenment". The word "Wukong" corresponds to the "Buddha" among the three refuges in Buddhism. It means to be aware but not confused, that is, to wake up and turn back from confusion. This is related to the experience of Sun Wukong. Moreover, emptiness is a very high state in Buddhism, that is, having no desires or demands, not being happy or sad about things, being able to be beaten by others without being annoyed, being scolded by everyone without speaking back, so Sun Wukong Only when you realize this state on the way to seek scriptures can you become the Buddha of Fighting Victory.

Then Wu Neng means taking refuge in the Dharma in Buddhism. Originally, Zhu Bajie was named Bajie in the hope that he could get rid of the eight precepts in his body, including greed for money, sex, gluttony and laziness. Unfortunately, Zhu Bajie could not get rid of any of them, so Guanyin gave him the name Wu Neng, which corresponds to the Buddhist teachings. Taking refuge in the Dharma means to break the illusion and become enlightened, to be enlightened and to abide by the precepts. This also shows Guanyin's expectations for him. Finally, Wujing corresponds to the Buddhist refuge Sangha. Sangha has the meaning of inner purity in Buddhism, so Wujing means to cut off worries, maintain the pure land of the heart, and practice hard. This also shows that because Monk Sha used to do evil in the Liusha River, Guanyin gave him the name of Wujing in the hope that he would get rid of all those messy bad habits and devote himself to the Buddha in order to achieve positive results.

In summary, it can be seen that the three disciples of Tang Seng were named this way because Wukong, Wuneng and Wujing correspond to the three refuges of Buddhism, and at the same time reflect the expectations of the three disciples.
