Split kick is a very important basic skill in martial arts and an important part of training quality. The main purpose is to enhance the flexibility of the legs and increase the range of motion of the hip joints. There are two methods: vertical splits and horizontal splits.
1. Vertical split
1. Preparation position: Stand in a figure of eight, body and chest straight, arms hanging downward naturally, palms facing inward, palms pointing downward.
2. Action description: Don’t move your right foot, take a step forward with your left foot, hold the ground with both hands left and right, lower your legs to a tolerable level, and raise your toes (beginners should pay special attention not to be impatient to avoid Strain), when you have practiced until both legs can land on the ground in front and back, raise your hands to the sides and look ahead. Both legs can be practiced alternately.
3. Action requirements: When doing the split with both legs, sink slowly and stop in moderation. Pay attention to keeping your chest up, your waist up, your hips down, and your knees up.
2. Horizontal cross
1. Preparatory position: Stand in a figure of eight, with your body and chest straight, your arms hanging down, your palms attached to the outside of your thighs, your palms facing inward, and your palms pointing downward.
2. Action instructions: Take a step sideways to the left with your left foot, hold your hands on the ground, and slowly move your legs apart so that your buttocks land on the ground. Keep your legs in a straight line, place your heels on the ground, and point your toes upward. After completing the movement, raise your hands to the sides. Look straight ahead.
3. Action requirements: Spread your legs outwards and sink your hips slowly to avoid strain. Mainly raise your chest, stand your waist, extend your hips, and straighten your knees.
It is best to have a master guide you when cheating. Do not do it by yourself. You can go to the Shaolin Temple Monk Training Base for professional training.
