Can illiterate fortune tellers know names?

Not necessarily. Most people who can tell fortunes don't know how to name them, but those who tell fortunes basically understand how to tell fortunes. The name is based on the prosperity and decline of the five elements in the eight characters, so as to determine which character should be used appropriately. For example, if the eight characters are missing wood or the wood is too weak, use the five elements belonging to wood or use the character meaning wood to make up for it. This requires mastering the five elements attributes, meanings, and number of strokes of a large number of Chinese characters. If you are just telling fortunes, there is no need to learn these things. So being able to tell fortunes doesn’t necessarily mean you can give names.
