These are chemicals with super strong bonding properties. Foreign countries are studying the use of them as weapons to destroy equipment sensing devices and stall engines, and compound them with material embrittlements, super corrosives, etc. to improve the combat effectiveness of these chemical weapons.
Anti-personnel non-lethal weapons can reduce enemy combat personnel and cause a heavy casualty burden to the enemy. Anti-personnel non-lethal weapons being studied abroad mainly include chemical incapacitation agents, irritants, viscous foam, etc. Repelling or incapacitating a target with a chemical incapacitating agent, usually using chemical tear gases. The most commonly used tear gases
are CN (chloroacetophenone), CS (o-chlorobenzylidenemalononitrile) and OC (oleoresin capsicum).
CN is a tear-inducing substance that can cause upper respiratory tract irritation and can cause skin irritation. On average, it can incapacitate a person for about 3 minutes.
CN was discovered by the German chemist Graeber in 1869, and most of its uses have been replaced by CS.
The U.S. Army made CS a standard riot control agent as early as 1959. The term "CS" comes from the surnames of two scientists, B.B. Carson and R.W. Sloughton, who first prepared the tear gas in 1928. In 1968, during the riots in Washington, DC, CS was used in civil law enforcement for the first time in the United States. Although CS is an effective riot control agent, incapacitating a person for an average of 5 to 10 minutes, its decontamination and cross-contamination are significant issues in urban environments.
OC is the abbreviation of capsicum oleoresin. It is a food product obtained by drying and grinding red pepper into powder. After OC is mixed with EMPULSIFER such as mineral oil, vegetable oil, soybean oil or water, it can act as an irritant and be sprayed with various injectors to safely control violent people or dangerous animals, restore and maintain law and order.
Due to the increasing use of OC, CN and CS are gradually being replaced. PepperBall chili powder projectiles are a newly developed OC riot weapon. Police officers are equipped with non-lethal weapons to perform a variety of routine duties. This type of weapons mainly includes various electric shock weapons and various tear gas injectors. A large part of them, such as electric shock weapons and OC injectors, have both offensive and defensive functions, and are mainly used for self-defense. Advanced Tasers are very popular; in addition, kinetic projectiles such as bean bag rounds are becoming popular.
We have briefly classified non-lethal weapons from two perspectives. It should be noted, however, that this classification is not absolute. Some riot control weapons are also suitable for regular equipment. For example, the PepperBall cayenne pepper projectile can be used for both riot control and subduing individual targets: this projectile combines a safety-grade kinetic impact with a powdered OC irritant to hit the person. Then it ruptures and releases the irritant. Some bright flashlights and electric batons also have the function of tear gas spray.
