How did Japan get its name?

In the past, Japanese people generally used Chinese characters for their names.

Generally speaking, boys’ names often include Wu, Xin, Yan, Nan, Fu, Bao, Xing, Jie, Jin, Kang, Xiu, Fang, etc.

Girls include Ai, Jia, Jing, Jing, Xing, Hui, Li, Yang, etc., followed by "子".

But now, names have changed a lot, and there are many names with only hiragana and no kanji.

A family only has one surname. After a couple gets married, the surname of the married party must be changed to the name of the married party.
