Wang Shiguang is the fourth brother of Liu Shaoqi’s wife, Wang Guangmei. In the 1930s, he first studied in the Department of Physics of Peking University, and then transferred to the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University to major in radio. The standard "science and engineering man", in today's parlance, means a bit of an academic master. He was a strict man, and he even made jokes about it.
In 1948, the Party Central Committee moved to Xibaipo, and Wang Guangmei and Liu Shaoqi met and got married. At this time, Wang Guangmei learned that her fourth brother Wang Shiguang was also near Xibaipo and immediately rushed to visit. Since Wang Shiguang left home to join the underground party in 1938, the brother and sister have not seen each other for 10 years.
The brother and sister reunited and talked about their parting feelings. Both sides always felt that they had endless things to say. Wang Guangmei happily told her brother that she had just gotten married. Wang Shiguang asked with concern: "Really? Great! Where is my brother-in-law from? What's his name?" "It's Liu Shaoqi."
Wang Guangmei smiled and replied softly. Wang Shiguang, who has always been steady and calm, thought his sister was teasing him. He was a little angry: "It's just fantastic! Stop thinking!" "Really! It's Liu Shaoqi." "What do you know! That's the leader of the party! Don't talk nonsense in the future."
Wang Guangmei couldn't laugh or cry. She knew that her brother worked in technology and was just like a child sometimes.
Later, when Wang Guangmei mentioned this matter to her son Liu Yuan, she still found it very interesting: "Most likely, your uncle thinks that it is something that cannot be beaten with eight sticks. He does not believe it or listen to it at all."
Wang Shiguang, formerly known as Wang Guangjie, was born in 1915 in a family of officials in Tianjin. Her father, Wang Zhichang, graduated from Japan's Waseda University and served as the director-general of the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce of the Beiyang Government; her mother, Dong Jieru, was a lady from a well-known family and graduated from the Beiyang Women's Normal School. The couple has progressive ideas and is inclined to revolution.
Wang Shiguang has been smart and studious since he was a child, and especially likes to study radio. Many children use the pocket money given by their parents to buy candies and snacks, but Wang Shiguang saves his change and uses it to buy radio equipment and parts. Once, he even took Wang Guangmei's pocket money under the pretext of watching a movie and bought radio equipment in private. It is said that Wang Guangmei also helped him wrap the radio coil. He also designed his own drawings and converted the radio at home into a radio station. Later, Wang Shiguang simply transferred from the Physics Department of Peking University to the Electrical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University. Regarding Wang Shiguang's learning interests and hobbies, his parents never interfered, but were supportive and encouraging. Children raised in such a family must be good children with both good character and academic performance. This is true for several children of the Wang family: the eldest daughter, Wang Guangmei, graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University, is China's first female master's degree in atomic physics; second son, Wang Guangqi, graduated from Tsinghua University, master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, and is an economic advisor to the Republic of China government;
The third son, Wang Guangchao, graduated from Union Medical College, is a famous dermatologist; his sixth son, Wang Guangying, graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University, is the chairman and general manager of China Everbright (Group) and the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Eighth National People's Congress. Several other children have also made achievements in various walks of life, so I won’t go into details here.
When Wang Shiguang was in school, he became good friends with Yu Qiwei (also known as Huang Jing, who was the mayor of Tianjin in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the father of Yu Zhengsheng). Yu Qiwei also came from a wealthy family, and his cousin Yu Dawei was a member of the Kuomintang's Ordnance Industry Department. Director (later served as Minister of Transportation, Minister of Defense, and in-laws of Chiang Ching-kuo).
Yu Qiwei was an important backbone of the Tianjin underground party in the early days. Under the leadership of Yu Qiwei, Wang Shiguang joined the "Chinese National Liberation Vanguard" and actively participated in the "129" student movement.
In 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out. Wang Shiguang hated the non-resistance policy of the Chiang Kai-shek government. Soon, under the introduction of Yu Qiwei, he resolutely joined the Communist Party of China.
One day, Yao Yilin, the head of the Tianjin underground party, came to Wang Shiguang and informed him that he had important tasks to be assigned to him in the organization. Before handing over the task, Yao Yilin asked him three questions: whether he is married, whether he has a partner, and whether he has goals. Wang Shiguang smiled and replied: "I am a member of the 'Three Nos'. I will not get married until the Japanese invaders and the Kuomintang reactionaries are defeated!"
Yao Yilin was very happy after hearing this. He further explained the work: Organizationally It was necessary to set up a secret radio station in enemy-occupied areas. Considering Wang Shiguang's expertise in radio, it was decided that he would be responsible for this matter. However, now that Japanese spy activities are rampant, working alone can easily arouse the enemy's suspicion. The organization has assigned him a female assistant, who pretends to be his wife, and the two cover up their true identities in the name of husband and wife. Wang Shiguang happily agreed: "Resolutely obey the organization's decision and ensure the completion of the task!"
The next day, Yao Yilin brought in a young girl with two pigtails. When Wang Shiguang saw it, he was shocked and blurted out: "So young! How old are you?" The little girl stretched out her right hand gracefully: "My name is Wang Xin, I am 17 years old this year!"
< p> Yao Yilin introduced some information about Wang Xin to Wang Shiguang: Wang Xin, formerly known as Wang Lanfen, his father is Lieutenant General Wang Ruihua of the Northeast Army, and he once served as the education director of the Northeast Martial Arts Hall.Wang Xin is a student at the High School Affiliated to Hebei Women's Normal University. Despite her young age, she is older than Wang Shiguang. The original plan was that Wang Xin was about to go to Yan'an to study at the "Anti-Japanese University". At this time, she received the lurking mission and stayed without hesitation.
Wang Xin smiled and said to Wang Shiguang: "I specially wore a blue cloth cheongsam that was a bit 'rustic' today. I wanted to dress myself up a bit 'old-fashioned', but I didn't expect you to find out."
Yao Yilin reminded them that the enemy is very cunning and may be discovered with a little negligence. From now on, no matter how you dress or live at home, you must pay attention to every detail.
Wang Shiguang and Wang Xin made preparations separately according to the organization's requirements: Wang Shiguang had his hair tied back, had his hair waxed, and was wearing a well-tailored suit prepared by Yao Yilin; Wang Xinyi Cruelly, I cut off two thick and long braids and permed my hair into a fashionable "wavy" hair.
The organization rented them an apartment in the British Concession, which was very close to the British barracks. The British's frequent radio signals could provide cover for their radio stations. Yao Yilin found a family member of the martyr named Pan from the base area to pretend to be Wang Shiguang's mother. Aunt Pan also brought a boy to pretend to be Wang Shiguang's younger brother.
In this way, an ordinary family of four was formed. The husband's name is Wu Houhe, who works as a technician at an electrical goods store in Tianxiang Market; his wife's name is Huang Hui, who runs the housework at home with her mother-in-law and takes care of her brother-in-law.
In order not to arouse the suspicion of the landlord, the "couple" used the excuse that her husband had tuberculosis and could only live in separate beds. They placed two single beds in the wedding room, separated by an Eight Immortals table and Four chairs, Wang Xin calls them the "Yellow River" as a dividing line between the two. Wang Shiguang cleverly disguised the station as a radio. At first, he used a transmitter made in the United States, but its transmitter and power supply were too noisy. Later, Wang Shiguang solved the problem by bringing in a radio station he had assembled at home.
Whenever late at night comes, Wang Shiguang's home is like the plot in the movie "The Wave That Never Dies", with thick curtains covering the windows and the radio station wrapped in blankets , and then report it to the Party Central Committee and the base area. Wang Xin was responsible for copying and recording.
The first person he sent and received messages from was the radio station at the headquarters of the Deng-Song detachment. This unit was merged from the Song Shilun Detachment and Deng Hua Detachment of the Eighth Route Army to form the Fourth Column of the Eighth Route Army. The other party soon sent "QSA-5", indicating that the signal was very good, and Wang Guangjie also replied with "RO K" to indicate that the reception was completed.
Working underground is very dangerous. Wang Shiguang and Wang Xin designed a set of safety signals: Whenever Wang Shiguang comes home from work, as long as he sees his "wife" jumping rope on the balcony, he will know that his home is safe. of. Sometimes, when he returns home, he will play rope skipping with his "wife" for a while. This is Wang Xin's happiest time.
Once, Wang Shiguang suddenly developed a high fever. Wang Xin was like a real wife, boiling water and making medicine, taking good care of her, and doing an excellent job of sending and receiving newspapers on his behalf. This moved Wang Shiguang very much: "I didn't expect you to be so young and born as a young lady. You are so capable." !" Wang Xin blushed after hearing this. This incident quietly brought the relationship between the two people closer.
The relationship between the two people was sublimated during a crisis.
One night, Wang Xin found a few sneaky guys pointing at the window of her house from time to time. Long-term lurking experience told her that there might be a "situation". She and Wang Shiguang immediately took the radio and left through the back door. The two came to a hotel to discuss the next step. At this time, Wang Shiguang was considering sacrificing himself to ensure the safety of the radio station and Wang Xin; while Wang Xin was considering that Wang Shiguang was the person in charge of the radio station and must ensure Wang Shiguang's safety at all costs.
When the two people expressed their thoughts, they discovered that they cared about each other so much. At this time, both people understood each other's thoughts.
Finally one day, the fast-talking Wang Xin asked Wang Shiguang: "Old Yao and the others have asked you, how are your 'three noes'? Why are you hesitant to answer and why are you still blushing? You have to be honest. "Explain?" Wang Guangjie said boldly: "Because of you."
"Then what are you waiting for?" Wang Xin pressed forward. "I'm asking you now, let's get married!" Wang Shiguang said with a blushing face.
In December 1938, with the approval of the superior party organization, the fake couple became real revolutionary partners. From then on, they spent 65 spring, summer, autumn and winter together hand in hand.
A year later, the Japanese and puppet forces infiltrated into the British Concession, and the situation became increasingly severe. The superior party organization decided to stop the work of the radio station. For more than a year, the radio station where Wang Shiguang and Wang Xin lurked made a huge contribution to the Anti-Japanese War.
According to Yao Yilin’s daughter’s recollection: This radio station played a huge role in the famous “Jidong Riots” at that time.
Wang Shiguang and Wang Xin were transferred to the Pingxi Anti-Japanese Base Area to accept new tasks. They were officially renamed Wang Shiguang and Wang Xin, and were called "Big King" and "Little Wang" by their colleagues.
The king serves as the maintenance director of the radio squadron of the Shanxi-Chahar-Reliao Military Region Headquarters, and Xiao Wang carries out women's work in various places.
In the spring of 1940, due to changes in the battlefield situation, they lost contact with each other as their troops moved. After Wang Shiguang lost contact with his wife, he became emotionally depressed for a time. He turned his longing for his lover into the motivation for his work. Soon, Wang Shiguang was transferred to the former General Communications Section of the Eighth Route Army as chief of the Materials Section.
Wang Shiguang is a "wizard" in telecommunications. As early as his student days, he was able to assemble his own radio station. In order to develop more and better radio stations, Wang Shiguang led more than 30 comrades in the company to develop an electronic cross-connected circuit assembly radio transmitter. During the installation process, they continued to improve the process and improve the technical quality. After small batch production in the first half of 1945, it was finalized and became the high-performance radio station self-made by the Eighth Route Army. It was only the size of a pillow bag, weighed only 7 kilograms, and had a power of 15 watts, which was more practical than Japanese and American radio stations at the time. In the War of Liberation, from the Battle of Shangdang to the Battle of Pinghan, from the advance of Liu and Deng's armies into the Dabie Mountains to the decisive battle at Huaihai, from the liberation of Nanjing to the march into the Southwest, this electronic cross-link radio played an important role. After the small batch production of electronic cross-link radios was successful, Wang Shiguang organized everyone to expand production and produced nearly a hundred units one after another. They provided good communication equipment for the defensive operations in the early days of the Liberation War and were highly praised by Commander Liu Bocheng.
In 1947, the North China Bureau newspaper made a special report titled "The People's Electrical Engineer - Model Telecommunications Technician Wang Shiguang". The article calls Wang Shiguang the "Telecommunications King." From then on, the reputation of the "Telecommunications King" became more and more popular, and even Chairman Mao in Yan'an knew about it.
Mao Zedong once wrote an inscription for the Signal Corps: "You are scientific clairvoyants and ears!" This is not only an affirmation of the Signal Corps, but also a praise for telecommunications heroes like Wang Shiguang.
For this reason, the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Central Bureau, the Military Region Headquarters and the Military Region Political Department jointly awarded Wang Shiguang the "Special Meritorious Officer" medal and the "People's Meritorious" silver medal.
In the blink of an eye, Wang Shiguang and Wang Xin had been separated for eight years. During this period, Wang Shiguang once asked someone to go to the Northeast Bureau to inquire and learned that there were five Communist Party members named Wang Xin. Soon, news of Wang Xin's sacrifice even came.
During the war years, this kind of thing was common. At that time, Wang Shiguang was in his thirties, tall and handsome. He was a top student at Tsinghua University. He was also known as the "Telecommunications King" and there were many people pursuing him. A beautiful female teacher confessed her love to him, but the reply he received was "I won't consider it for now."
Perhaps God favored his relationship with Wang Xin. Finally one day, he and Wang Xin met.
It turned out that Wang Shiguang’s exemplary deeds were published in newspapers in the liberated areas. After Wang Xin learned about her husband, he traveled all the way from Mudanjiang in the northeast to the Taihang Mountains.
The first meeting between the two was surprisingly calm. They just looked at each other for several minutes. After a while, Wang Shiguang said: "Can I smoke?" Wang Xin, who had never smoked, replied: "I want to smoke a cigarette too!"
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wang Shiguang served as the director of the Fourth Machinery Industry Deputy Minister of the Department, mainly responsible for providing measurement and control equipment for China's key national defense projects such as atomic bombs, missiles and artificial earth satellites, providing supporting electronic equipment for conventional weapons such as ships, tanks, and artillery, and scientific research and development of military communications, electronic countermeasures and other equipment. A large number of results have been achieved, ranging from basic components to new complete sets of equipment, and a lot of fruitful work has been done for China's national defense modernization. During the "Cultural Revolution", Wang Shiguang was persecuted, wronged and imprisoned.
Wang Shiguang's nephew, General Liu Yuan, once said: "My uncle was in bad luck because of his
kinship with my parents: criticism, struggle, censorship, Endless. ”
In Liu Yuan’s impression, his uncle Wang Shiguang had never used his father Liu Shaoqi’s connections to make money. Even when he visited his mother Dong Jieru in Zhongnanhai, he never looked for Liu Shaoqi and his wife. Wang Guangmei even felt that her brother was always avoiding her.
However, Wang Shiguang was not idle in prison. Beginning in March 1973, without any technical information or computing tools, he began to write manuscripts in prison, covering topics such as radar, electronic countermeasures, integrated circuits, etc. He was released from prison on April 7, 1975. These manuscripts totaled 700,000 words, and 39 copies were ordered.
In the 1980s, Jiang Zemin was the Minister of the Ministry of Electronics. At his suggestion, Wang Shiguang, who was over 70 years old, was still retained as the Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Electronics as a special case.
Wang Shiguang lived up to expectations and organized the development of a batch of new radar, navigation, communications and computer equipment, and organized the implementation of large-scale system projects such as automated air defense systems, communication satellite electronic systems, and the "37 Project." During the construction of the Beijing Electron Positron Collider, he attached great importance to it, organized it carefully, and made important contributions, and was awarded by the State Council.
Shortly after his retirement, Wang Xin suffered from Alzheimer's disease and, like a child, refused to let Wang Shiguang leave.
Sometimes, her illness flared up and she often threw things and cursed people, but Wang Shiguang always tolerated everything silently.
Because Wang Xin loves flowers, Wang Shiguang even planted more than 10 rose trees in the courtyard. At first, the varieties bought by Nv Wanggeng were only light pink and bright red, but Wang Shiguang specifically requested to add yellow, white and other colors.
Every few days, he would select the most beautiful flowers, cut them out, and send them to Wang Xin. At this time, Wang Xin would clap his hands excitedly like a child. At this time, Wang Shiguang was already in his 60s. His hands had been pricked by flower thorns countless times, but he still smiled happily.
Even when he was seriously ill and hospitalized for the last time, in order to fill in a resume issued by his employer for Wang Xin, Wang Shiguang, who was already quite weak, still struggled to sit on the sofa and persisted with trembling and weak hands. I wrote for more than an hour.
In 2003, Wang Shiguang completed his glorious and legendary life at the age of 88.
Wang Xin, who lost her close lover, often sat in a wheelchair and was in a daze. She could hardly speak complete sentences.
However, when someone lies in his ear and loudly speaks the words "Eternal Wave", Wang Xin, who has always been expressionless, will have a smile on his face.
There is no quiet time, but there are people carrying the burden for you.
I would like to use this article to pay tribute to those heroes who silently dedicated themselves to the cause of liberation of the motherland!
